  • F.A.Q: Sound Blaster Live!

A growing collection of questions and answers for Creative Labs 10K1 based cards including the original Live and Live Value, the MP3+, the X-Gamer, the Player 1024 and the Platinum. Our FAQ is intended to supplement but not replace Creative's own extensive FAQs.

    24. I have installed LW 3.0 and my 8 or 12 MB SoundFonts go back to 4 MB SoundFonts and the SoundFont cache keeps going back to 12 MB after I reboot my computer. What can I do to stop this? - Top

The LW3.0 default is to load the 4MB GM SF file into memory but you can override this setting but have to be ready to edit your system registry. You should back up the registry to be safe incase something goes wrong.

    1. goto RUN type REGEDIT

    2. Goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Creative Tech\Devcon\

    3. DELETE the key called Installation Default.

    4. Close Regedit set your soundfronts and cache and reboot. It should now save your sound font and cache settings.

The November Live!Ware driver update should also eliminate this problem so you may want to grab it from Creative Labs. - Updated: January 20, 2000
