3DsoundSurge FAQ Manager Version 1.0
  • F.A.Q: Sound Blaster Live!

A growing collection of questions and answers for Creative Labs 10K1 based cards including the original Live and Live Value, the MP3+, the X-Gamer, the Player 1024 and the Platinum. Our FAQ is intended to supplement but not replace Creative's own extensive FAQs.

    3. In terms of the acutal board, what is the difference between Sound Blaster Live! Platinum, X-Gamer, mp3+ and Player 1024? What about the new 5.1 versions of the cards? - Top

The difference in all the retail pre 5.1 cards is in the software bundle and in the case of the Platinum, the fact that it also comes with the LiveDrive I in the America's and LiveDrive II in Europe.

In the case of the new 5.1 cards (Live Player 5.1, Live DE, XGamer 5.1, MP3+ 5.1 and Platinum 5.1) the digital DIN output has been changed to allow it to do 6 channel out when matched with the DTT3500 and it can also serve as the analog output for the 5/6 (subwoofer/center) channel output. The LiveDrive that ships with the Platinum 5.1 cards is also new. It's basically the same as the original LiveDrive II with the addition of an IR port to use with the new IR remote. The other addition to the new 5.1 cards is in software. All of these cards come with software Dolby Digital decoding capability.

For lots more details on all the Live cards you should check out our Live Reference Review:
