3DsoundSurge FAQ Manager Version 1.0
  • F.A.Q: Sound Blaster Live!

    A growing collection of questions and answers for Creative Labs 10K1 based cards including the original Live and Live Value, the MP3+, the X-Gamer, the Player 1024 and the Platinum. Our FAQ is intended to supplement but not replace Creative's own extensive FAQs.

    2. Can the Live! SPDIF out worth with the Cinemaster DVD Player? - Top

    We don;t have this player so can't verify this information. Its also possible a newer version of the player is out that renders this 'fix' redundant but until we find out otherwise here is a fix we pulled from the news groups:

    To get AC3 out of Live! using the Cinemaster DVD player, you need the following:
    a. SBLive (obviously) with digital i/o
    b. installed Liveware 2.0 or higher
    c. zip file with Cinemaster Decoding Engine 1.27 or higher
    d. Cinemaster 1.6 player (or higher?)
    e. DVD Region Selector 1.8 (or higher) {Not really NEEDED}
    f. a decent enough PC (400MHz is recommended) and
    g. a DVD-ROM drive

    Instructions
    1. Unzip the zip file to WINDOWS\SYSTEM
    2. Install Cinemaster 1.6 player (which does not come with the
    decoding engine, hence the need for the zip file earlier)
    3. Install DVD Region Selector
    4. Open DVD Region Selector, select the Cinemaster/ATI tab and
    select More-> AC3 -> Ensoniq
    5. Click Apply
    6. Also configure the Cinemaster Engine to whatever is best for your
    video card (ATI/Savage or full CPU etc)
    7. Go to Live's Surround Mixer
    8. Click on '+' symbol above Playcontrol sliders
    9. Enable Digital Only
    10. hook up SPDIF from Live digital i/o card to AC3 amplifier
    11. Run Cinemaster 1.6
    12. Insert a DVD movie in DVD drive
    13. Go to DVD Menus and configure audio to Dolby Digital 5.1 (if
    necessary)
    14. VOILA!!! - Updated: January 22, 2000
