A growing collection of questions and answers for Creative Labs 10K1 based cards including the original Live and Live Value, the MP3+, the X-Gamer, the Player 1024 and the Platinum. Our FAQ is intended to supplement but not replace Creative's own extensive FAQs.
You must have one of the new SB Live cards that uses a mini-jack (1/8 inch) digital connector instead of the 9 pin DIN connector that is on the original full version boards.
As new boxes for the FPS2000 and DTT2500 get into the retail chain they will have the new mini-jack digital connector but if you already have either the Cambridge Soundworks FPS2000 or DTT2500 line all you need to do is call Creative customer service and they will send one out to you at no cost.
The solution is similar if you have one of the original Sound Blaster Live! Value cards that do not have an external DIN connector. If that’s your situation what you need an adapter called the 9 pin mini back plate and basically plugs into the Value like a daughter card.
Specifically, that mean that one end connects to the SPDIF_EXT and the other end is a DIN connection integrated into a bracket. As expected the DIN is automatically recognized and used by the Live! (value) and this will allow you to connect to the FPS2000 or DTT2500
If you have the retail SB Live! Value, just call Creative Support. - Updated: October 31, 1999
