| Company's RollingStone.com Site Now Offering Music Fans Access to Legitimate Digital Music From UMG Artists |

CHICAGO, Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- EMusic.com Inc. (Nasdaq: EMUS), the Internet's leading
seller of downloadable music, today announced an affiliate relationship with Universal
Music Group (UMG) for EMusic's RollingStone.com Web site to participate in the trials of
bluematter(TM), a new digital download format. As an affiliate partner, RollingStone.com
will offer legitimate premium digital music and enhanced multimedia content from UMG
artists to music fans that visit http://www.RollingStone.com.

The bluematter format allows consumers to introduce friends to new music through ``superdistribution.'' Consumers can click the ``e-mail a friend'' button on their music player and send legal music references to friends via e-mail. Friends can listen to a sample of the song and opt to purchase the full track in the bluematter format.
