InterVideo Delivers Full Product Line Support for Panasonic 4.7GB DVD-RAM

Windows, Linux DVD Players, Real-Time Encoders, Digital VCR products Enable Users to Produce, Play Back High-quality Video on Panasonic 2-Hour Rewritable DVD Solutions

MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 8, 2000-- Panasonic and InterVideo announced today that InterVideo's complete product line of DVD and MPEG-2 video editing, production and playback solutions support Panasonic 4.7GB DVD-RAM drives and media. With the products users can capture and compress MPEG-2 video, add audio and special effects, edit the materials, and output the video to a rewritable, removable DVD-RAM disc for up to 2 hours of video playback.

InterVideo's personal and professional video editing and authoring products include WinDVR, WinDVD, WinCoder and LinDVD. Used with Panasonic's recently announced DVD-RAM drives, completed feature-length (2 hour) business and home videos can be stored on a 4.7GB single-sided bare disc. Videos can be played back on Panasonic's DVD-RAM drives and newer-generation DVD-ROM drives.

``With the rapid convergence of computer and consumer technology, business and home videographers want to produce videos that are as good as those they see in the theater, said William Wang, InterVideo's Director of Marketing. ''Our products take the drudgery and expense out of the editing and production process. With Panasonic's 4.7GB DVD-RAM drives and media, they can store the video and play it back on a wide variety of video playback devices. No matter how many times you use the bare disc media, the video will look as good as the day it was produced. Quality doesn't deteriorate as it will with VHS, even after 30 years.``

WinCoder is a high-performance real-time MPEG-2 encoder that provides high-quality digital audio and video capture to the PC. Users can provide video from a video source, encode it in MPEG-2 or MPEG-2 video format and store the compressed and edited video on bare DVD-RAM discs for playback on any compatible DVD device. WinCoder includes a full range of capture settings and simple-to-use editing tools to produce professional quality business, education, training or personal videos. The company's widely used WinDVD and LinDVD software DVD decoders/players allow users to economically enjoy all of the features, capabilities and quality of DVD video on their Windows or Linux OS-based systems.

InterVideo's popular WinDVR allows users to record TV broadcasts to DVD-RAM or other storage devices such as a hard drive for future viewing. The software-only product allows users to preview a TV program and encode it to MPEG-2 video format in real time. WinDVR's multiple video preview window allows users to channel surf, schedule recording times days or weeks in advance, reliably record programs and browse the Web simultaneously.

``InterVideo has developed one of the most complete and robust DVD software product lines available,'' said Jeff Saake, Group General Manager, Panasonic Industrial Company, Computer Technologies Group. ``They offer software-based video and still photo editing, authoring and playback products that make business and personal DVD video production easy to use and easy to enjoy. When combined with our rewritable DVD drive, consumers have an affordable solution for turning video from any source into a very professional interactive video that can be viewed and shared.''

The Panasonic DVD-RAM drive combines the ease of use and random access of a hard drive with transfer rates of up to 22.16Mb/sec and 95msec access times. A versatile solution, the drive will also read from discs currently accepted by CD-ROM, CD Audio, CD-R, CD-RW and video CD drives, as well as DVD video, DVD-ROM and DVD-R drives.
