| RICHARDSON, Texas--(BUSINESS
WIRE)--Nov. 9, 2000--Samsung Telecommunications America, Inc. (STA), a leading provider of
telecommunications products and services, and Voquette, the leader in the delivery of
personal Web audio, today announced a joint development partnership to provide streaming
audio playback capabilities to Samsung's new UPROAR(TM) MP3 phone. Earlier this month STA introduced the Samsung Uproar(TM) MP3 wireless phone which will be enabled to support the Voquette Media Manager(TM). The launch of Uproar marks the first time high quality streaming audio and rich media content is available on wireless phones. Through the Voquette Media Manager, Samsung users can find and record their favorite Web audio -- including Wall Street Journal headlines, ON24 stock updates, RadioWallStreet CEO interviews, CNET Radio headlines and more -- directly to their MP3 phone. The Samsung Uproar(TM) comes with 64 megabytes of flash memory and can store up to an hour of CD quality music or up to eight hours of spoken word audio formats such as Internet radio, Webcasts, audio books or training sessions. ``The introduction of the Samsung Uproar(TM) marks a significant step toward the convergence of communication and Web audio playback devices,'' said Peter Skarzynski, STA Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Wireless Terminals. ``Voquette has developed the premier platform to enable streaming audio for wireless devices, and our partnership extends that capability to Samsung users -- specifically business professionals -- who also want to enjoy Web audio away from their PC.'' With the Voquette Media Manager, the Samsung Uproar(TM) is particularly valuable to business professionals with an increasing interest in Web audio news and analysis, but limited time to find and listen to all of the relevant content. The VMM allows business professionals to create personal programs of informative Web audio from 75 brand-name content partners, automatically record and listen to the programs on their Uproar phone while they work, commute or fly. When a call comes in, the user simply pauses the audio, takes the call and returns to the program at the point he or she left off. ``Samsung is on the cutting edge of wireless innovation, and we believe this new platform is a major opportunity for personal Web audio in a business setting,'' said Philip J. Monego, Sr., Voquette chairman and CEO. ``Voquette takes personally relevant, informative audio content and delivers it to business professionals at the time and in the place they choose -- whether that means on their office desktop, on a laptop or on the Samsung Uproar in their pocket or purse.'' As the world's first wireless phone with downloadable audio capabilities built directly into the handset, the Uproar allows consumers to download MP3 files from their computer directly onto their phone. The Uproar combines the latest in audio technology with other advanced features offered through Samsung to create a four-in-one phone. In addition to allowing the user to download virtually any file in MP3 format, the phone also serves as an Internet portal and personal organizer.
