DTS Entertainment Releases First DVD-Audio Titles

Advance Copies Available at WCES: Alexis Park -- Room 2851

AGOURA HILLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 21, 2000--DTS today announced plans to begin shipment of the first DVD-Audio music recordings produced by its company-owned DTS Entertainment record label, by late February 2001.

Each DVD-Audio title will be marketed as a ``DTS Music Experience,'' and will include MLP multi-channel and stereo tracks for DVD-A players, plus a DTS ``Master Quality'' multi-channel soundtrack and a Dolby Digital stereo track (for compatibility with all existing DVD-Video players).

Advance copies of the first DVD-Audio titles will be available for purchase at a DTS-sponsored software store (Alexis Park, Room 2851) throughout the CES Convention, January 6-9, in Las Vegas. Mass production will begin shortly after the show, with the first discs arriving in retail stores in time for a street date in late February.

Retail buyers will receive complete ordering procedures and instructions by the middle of January.

``DTS has been at the forefront of multi-channel digital audio since our inception in 1993, including the development of the world's largest catalog of 5.1 music recordings on compact disc,'' said Jon Kirchner, DTS president and COO. ``The new DVD-Audio format provides the storage capacity to simultaneously deliver multiple high-resolution 5.1 and stereo soundtracks.

``Backward compatibility to the DVD-Video format, brings these exceptional music recordings directly into the homes and automobiles of millions of DTS Digital Surround enthusiasts.''

The first DVD-Audio titles scheduled for release in Q1 2001 include a series of 96/24 classical titles from ILIAD, the pop/rock classic Toy Matinee (produced by Patrick Leonard), Steve Stevens' popular Flamenco A Go-Go, and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Additional titles include superb 5.1 audio mixes from up-and-coming pop/rock stars, such as: The Gluey Brothers, Studio Voodoo, Pacific Coast Highway and Larisa Stow.
