New Tripath Class-T 1 Bit Digital Amplifier Powers Marantz ER3000 Home Cinema System

Digital Power Processing Technology Provides New Cinemarium DVD Unit High Sound Quality and Additional Power

LAS VEGAS, LVCC, South Hall, Booth #D3669, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Tripath Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: TRPH), creators of Digital Power Processing (DPP(TM)) technology, today announced that its new TA2022 1 bit digital audio amplifier is powering Marantz's new Cinemarium Home Cinema System. The ER3000 DVD system produces high-quality sound with a Tripath Class-T(TM) 50W (EIAJ/6ohms) digital amplifier and built-in Dolby Digital®, Dolby Pro Logic® and DTS® and Circle Surround® decoding.

Tripath's TA2022 allows Marantz to deliver a total of 250W of audio power at 90% efficiency enabling the integration of a DVD and AM/FM Tuner into a single component. Tripath's advantage is derived from it's patented DPP technology which incorporates a 1 Bit Delta Sigma digital to analog converter with a sampling frequency of 50 Mhz with proprietary signal processing algorithms to provide the fidelity (0.03% THD+N) associated with traditional analog amplifiers but with the power efficiency of a switching mode architecture.

The ER3000 DVD Home Cinema System includes an integrated center unit combining a DVD player, an A/V amplifier and an AM/FM tuner as well as 5.1-channel amplifier and speaker system. The Cinemarium features 2-way satellite speakers and subwoofer, as well as built-in MPEG-2 AAC decoding for BS digital broadcast. The DVD unit can play CD-R/CD-RW disks, in addition to DVD, CD, Video CD and CD-DA disks.

``We designed the Cinemarium with the knowledge that power, fidelity and convenience are the factors consumers consider when deciding which home entertainment system to purchase. Tripath and its Digital Power Processing technology allow Marantz to design products like the ER3000 which provides superior performance in all three areas without compromise or unreasonable costs,'' said Katsumi Shimoguchi, General Manager of Marantz' AV Business.

``Consumer demand for high fidelity sound and improved picture quality is growing as fast as the DVD home theater market. By integrating Tripath Class-T amplifiers into their products, premiere equipment manufacturers like Marantz put themselves in an ideal position to capture a large share of this rapidly growing industry,'' said Neal Carney, Vice President of Marketing at Tripath.
