InterVideo Data Injection (IDI) Technology Designed to Offer Added-Value Content to MP3.com Music Files Such as Lyrics, Artist Web Pages, Promotional Offers and More |
| SAN DIEGO and FREMONT,
Calif., March 29 /PRNewswire/ -- InterVideo, Inc., a leading developer of PC multimedia
software, and MP3.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: MPPP), the Internet's premier Music Service Provider
(MSP), today announced the unveiling of enhanced MP3 features (Enhanced MP3) which allow
users to experience a greater variety of visual information than is currently available
with today's digital music. The enhancement, available today on MP3.com and viewable with
InterVideo's WinRip(TM) software-based digital music jukebox, gives music lovers the
ability to view synchronized lyrics and browse artist web pages through links embedded
directly into standard MP3 files. To experience first-hand Enhanced MP3s, visit www.mp3.com/enhanced. Enhanced MP3s are based on InterVideo's exclusive, patent-pending InterVideo Data Injection (IDI) technology. Using IDI, artists and users alike can enter text or lyrics manually, or import them from other sources. WinRip Studio(TM), a special version of the software, will be made available free of charge and on a limited-time trial basis to artists posting music on MP3.com. This software will enable those artists to add links to web pages and provide their choice of visual information to their music, transforming the MP3.com experience and giving artists new creative and promotional opportunities. ``We expect Enhanced MP3 to dramatically improve the listening experience of MP3 tracks for millions of music lovers,'' said Steve Ro, president and CEO of InterVideo. ``By making Enhanced MP3s available on MP3.com, not only are we are aligning ourselves with the premier music resource on the Internet, but we're also instantly opening our technology to the nearly 150,000 artists in the MP3.com creative community. Fans of great music, regardless of style or genre, are going to benefit greatly from today's announcement.'' ``MP3.com is continually looking for ways to add value to the music experience for our users,'' said Michael Robertson, chairman and chief executive officer of MP3.com. ``By unveiling Enhanced MP3s, we're taking the enjoyment of digital music to a whole new level. InterVideo has developed a robust and innovative technology that will benefit our artists and their fans in ways never before imagined. We are confident that music fans everywhere will enjoy all the new and exciting developments unleashed by Enhanced MP3s.'' New Enhancements Viewable with InterVideo's WinRip(TM) To view Enhanced MP3s, users can download a free copy of InterVideo's WinRip(TM) MP3 player software from MP3.com at www.mp3.com/intervideo. Enhanced MP3s are also 100 percent backward-compatible with existing MP3 players. WinRip offers user-defined music-file management, smart-search capability (artist, genre, etc.), and DSP effects such as echo, surround, karaoke and tone control. WinRip also runs in a ``compact'' mode that lets users change the look and feel of the product with a number of downloadable ``skins,'' and supports ``plug-in'' applications that enhance the playback environment with colorful graphics that respond to music tempo and dynamics. The product is compatible with Microsoft Windows platforms including Windows 98, 2000 and Millennium Edition.
