Z-560 Receives Lucasfilm's THX(R) Multimedia Product Certification |
|
FREMONT, Calif., Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Logitech
(Nasdaq: LOGIY; Switzerland: LOGN, LOGZ), today entered the premium PC
speaker market with its new line of Z-Series speakers. This speaker
family, which includes the Z-560, Z-540 and Z-340, combines
spectacular performance with patented Logitech technology, to offer an
attractive line of high-end audio products. The speakers present
tremendous power and clarity for PC gaming, DVDs, CDS and MP3 files.
The flagship product of the series, the THX® certified Z-560,
overpowers the competition with its 400 watts of surround sound power.
The Z-560 includes ultra-wide bandwidth, phase aligned satellite
drivers and polished aluminum phase plug design for supreme tone
quality. The entire line of speakers will be available in U.S. and
Canadian retail outlets and online at www.logitech.com
in early October. (Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20010910/SFM093

Industrial design is an important factor of overall speaker quality. Logitech paid special attention to this aspect of the Z-Series speakers, with the intent of bringing the feeling of home theater to the desktop. For example, the satellite units include unique stands that rotate for either desk or wall mounting. All units include removable grill covers that can be detached to display the more aggressive, ``audio-tech'' look of the aluminum phase plug. ``The Z-Series speakers raise the performance bar that an enthusiast can expect from a PC speaker, while maintaining a conservative price point,'' said Bob Wick, senior vice president of Logitech's Audio Division. ``These products produce better bass response due to superior dynamic bass equalization, and have a flatter response curve, which makes sound quality phenomenal. We believe these speakers will quickly become a favorite of PC audiophiles.'' The Z-560 is the flagship product of this new line of speakers. It is a 4.1 surround sound, 5-piece speaker system that is THX certified, with 400 watts of power. It comes equipped with M3D Matrix technology, so listeners experience amazingly realistic surround sound from 2-channel stereo sound sources. The Z-560 also has a brute force subwoofer for room-thumping bass and dynamic bass equalization that enables undistorted bass response regardless of the volume. It comes equipped with a SoundTouch(TM) Control Center that lets users fine tine the listening environment with separate controls for M3D, volume, fader and bass. The home stereo style connectors use standard speaker wire so users can place the speakers anywhere they choose. The Z-560 offers superior design and power at an affordable price point of $199.99. The Z-540 is a 5-piece speaker system with 40 watts of power. It has Logitech's proprietary subwoofer with pressure driver, which enables lower and louder sound than conventional subwoofers by providing superior low frequency response, rich deep bass and greater tonal purity. The Z-540 also offers M3D Matrix surround sound so users can experience realistic surround sound from their music DVDs, or PC games. This speaker offers wall or desk mount satellites and will sell for $79.99. The Z-340 is the entry-level Z-Series speaker. It is a 3-piece system with 32 watts of total power. The Z-340 also uses the Logitech subwoofer with pressure driver, giving listeners the best audio experience possible through their PC. Plus, one of the satellite units provides a headphone jack, which enables convenient private listening. Retailing for $49.99, the Z-340 offers superior features with top quality design.
