Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Philips Components, a division of Royal Philips
Electronics (NYSE: PHG - news) of the Netherlands, will showcase a wide array of
digital electronic solutions for the consumer electronics, mobile
telecommunications, automotive infotainment and PC-related markets in
conjunction with Fall COMDEX 2001.

Philips Components' products and technologies will be featured at its
private technology suite (#604-606) in the Casanova ballroom of Las
Vegas' Venetian Casino and Resort, November 12-14.
Why:
Philips Components' portfolio of enabling digital solutions is designed
to shape the electronics industry. By leveraging its strengths in

lower integration costs and faster time to market, while also providing
end users with more value-added products that deliver superior
functionality, performance and ease of use.
What:
A sampling of the products to be showcased includes:
Display Solutions:
-- LCD TV Modules (20-inch, 15-inch and 7-inch): integrated liquid
crystal display (LCD) TV solutions, customizable for different
markets/applications.
-- LCD TV Electronic Modules: software and electronic solutions for LCD
TVs that offer easy interfaces to added features (e.g., timeshifting).
-- Timeshift Recorder Module: HD-based MPEG-2 video timeshift recorder
featuring an advanced interface, best-in-class picture performance and
easy integration.
-- Net Display Module: the industry's only system-board-integrated,
touch-screen LCD module; enables the world's thinnest and lightest
architecture for streaming video, wireless display-centric Internet
appliance products, as well delivers full Internet capabilities.
Optical Storage Solutions:
-- Philips DVDR1000: DVD recorder that delivers compatibility without
compromising recording quality or ease-of-use-enabling consumers to
create their own digital-quality video recordings, which can then be
played back on the vast majority of existing DVD-Video players and
DVD-ROM drives in PCs.
-- Combi 16x: a single drive that offers combined CD/RW + DVD read
capability and advanced CD/RW technology.
Connectivity Solutions:
-- Bluetooth CompactFlash Card Module: designed for the Microsoft(R)
Windows(R) CE OS platform, this module allows PC OEMs and electronics
manufacturers to benefit from a total Bluetooth plug-and-play solution
and add Bluetooth connectivity to PDAs, handhelds and other devices
running on Microsoft's OS for handhelds and notebooks (via an adapter)
and desktop computers (via USB adapter).
-- 802.11b Mini PCI Module: integrated WLAN and WAN solution, coupled
with a v.90/.92 modem.
-- Bluetooth and 802.11b PC Card Modules: these modules slip inside
virtually any notebook or handheld device, providing WLAN capability.
Sound Solutions:

an innovative and convenient boomless design that offers long talk and
standby times. Its modular architecture and extremely small form
factor offers greatly reduced surround sound, and is ideal for
business and consumer applications.
-- 5.1 Speaker System-MMS 306: unique soft, flat satellite design,
multi-channel experience, wireless control, and compact subwoofer with
wOOx technology.
-- Seismic Edge 5.1 Sound Card PSC 705: creates 5.1 distinct sound
channels from stereo music, games and movies, adds additional rich
layers of surround sound to EAX(TM)-enabled games, and enables Virtual
5.1 playback for DVDs, games and music over ordinary stereo speakers.
Remote Control Solutions:
-- TSU 2000: Pronto Universal remote control combines elegance,
flexibility and customization to create a remote-as unique as the
user. With a universal database, learning ability and editing
software, this remote will remove the clutter on the coffee table.
-- TSU 6000: enhancing the features of the TSU 2000 with a 256-color LCD
touchscreen, RF transmission, pickup sensor and 8MBs of memory to the
device, the TSU 6000 ProntoPro allows maximum flexibility and
customization for even the most sophisticated home entertainment
systems.
-- TSU 500: the ProntoNeo has similar features to the TSU 2000 Pronto
remote with a smaller B/W LCD touchscreen for better economy to
promote mass-market bundling.
-- ProntoEdit: the critically acclaimed companion software for the
Pronto, ProntoPro and ProntoNeo allows full customization of the
devices by the user. Best of all, this software is available free via
download at www.pronto.philips.com
-- HSD4000: the Philips HSD4000 is a completely portable home shopping
device with a barcode scanner that allows the user to build a shopping
list over time and then send the order via an internet connection to a
grocer for delivery at home.
Tuner Solutions (for more information, see Oct. 31 release at www.components.philips.com): -- FM1200 MK3 Series: world's smallest analog, multi-standard front-end
that combines both television and FM radio functions, enabling end-
users to watch TV, listen to the radio on a PC or record TV movies on
a suitable capture card-with superior picture and sound quality.
-- Network Interface Module (NIM) Family: designed to meet set-top box
and PCI-card makers' increasingly complex needs. The NIMs take in
respective digital RF signals (DVB-T, ATSC, QAM and QPSK) and output
the MPEG 2 Transport Stream, offering ease of application for the
customer.
-- TV-Interface-Module (TIM) 3000: virtually a "TV-in-a-can,"
integrating a TV tuner with full TV functionality. Optimized for LCD
TV applications, the TIM3000 family allows for complete signal
processing-from antenna to RGB drive-and features on-board
intelligence and memory, including audio and synchronization
functions. With TIM, the LCD panel, speakers and casing then become
the only other components necessary to create an LCD TV.
