Recordable DVD Applications Span the Complete Range of Consumer to Business and A/V to Computer-based Applications |
| LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS
WIRE)--Nov. 12, 2001-- More than 30 hardware, software and solution providers will
showcase shipping products, systems and solutions that incorporate or support the DVD
Forum recordable DVD formats here this week at COMDEX in the RDVD Pavilion, Booth L5555.
The Pavilion is sponsored by the Recordable DVD Council (RDVDC), a coalition of nearly 75
leading DVD technology developers and highlighted products featuring industry standard
DVD-RAM, DVD-R, and DVD-RW technologies. The products on display span the complete range
of consumer to business and A/V to computer-based applications. ``One of the primary goals of the Recordable DVD Council is to assist software and hardware vendors by promoting a better understanding of the three DVD Forum-approved recordable DVD formats,'' said council chairman Bon-Guk Koo, senior corporate advisor and former executive vice president of Samsung Electronics. The exhibit is part of a new outreach program the RDVDC launched this week to expand the recordable DVD market worldwide. Program plans include major trade show activities and information exchange among council members, as well as business and consumer educational/ informational programs. ``Products that are produced to the DVD Forum specifications have been enhancing the DVD experience of users for more than three years,'' he emphasized. `` Now it is our task to help businesses and consumers understand the benefits of these proven standards and their use in audio, video and computer devices such as DVD recorders, DVD drives, DVD cameras and other applications.'' Compliance with the DVD Forum's recordable DVD formats has been a
key factor in driving the broad support of some of the industry's leading system and
software producers. The user-proven DVD technologies meet the storage needs of personal
and professional audio/video production and limited volume content distribution. The
established formats also meet user requirements for backup, data archiving, radio and
television broadcast storage and distribution, education, healthcare and enterprise
knowledge management. Industry Participants
