Apogee's DDX Amplifiers Power Zenith DVD Surround Sound System

DDX Amplifier Technology Enables Compact DVD Receiver System

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 7, 2002--Apogee Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:APGT), a leading developer of digital audio amplification technology, announced today at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the latest product to use its Direct Digital Amplification (DDX®) technology: a new DVD receiver home theater audio system from Zenith Electronics Corporation.

The Zenith DA3520 DVD Dolby Digital Surround Sound System plays both CDs and DVDs and includes a radio tuner and six loudspeakers powered by 180 Watts of DDX all-digital, high- efficiency amplification. This all-in-one design provides consumers the excitement of home theater in an affordable, easy-to-use system with the profile of a standard DVD player.

The DA3520 integrated design capitalizes on DDX's high efficiency operation. By lowering energy use, the size of the amplifier power supply and heat sink are significantly reduced compared with traditional analog amplifier solutions that are up to three times less efficient. The DA3520 is also easier for the consumer to set up because all the interconnections between the DVD player and amplifier are eliminated.

``This Zenith DVD receiver system not only provides a complete solution for the consumer, but it also perfectly showcases the benefits of DDX,'' said Antonio Visconti, Apogee's Vice President of Sales and Marketing. ``DDX's digital design preserves the digital quality of the DVD recording, and the amplifier's small size enables Zenith to meet consumers demand for an easy to use compact system. This product is another indication of the added value DDX technology has in the marketplace.''

The DA3520 DVD receiver system, which was developed by Zenith's parent company, LG Electronics Inc., is available now in the United States under the Zenith brand at a suggested retail price of $399.

Apogee Technology is showcasing the Zenith DA3520 DVD receiver at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) from January 8 to 11, 2002, Las Vegas Convention Center, South Hall, Booth # 13400
