Party on with the Digital Jukebox

TerraTec Electronic launches its Digital Jukebox c.a.r. 4000 with a memory space for 240 CDs

TerraTec Electronic (www.terratec.com), Germany's largest sound card manufacturer, today announces the long-awaited launch of its innovative Digital Jukebox c.a.r. 4000. The c.a.r. 4000 cleverly transfers MP3 functionality to a user’s HiFi system, allowing the user to record any type of audio signal, and then save it to a hard disk drive. This makes recording from a tape deck, audio source, or microphone unbelievably simple.

The versatile Jukebox enables the user to simultaneously save audio CDs to the integrated hard disk drive (memory space for 240 CDs) while audibly playing them, using the digital selection feature. An extensive CDDB (CD info data bank) support enhances this function, automatically finding the artist, album, and title of a track. Meanwhile, the graphical display clearly demonstrates which functions are currently in use. .

In addition, the user can select the format that his or her recording is saved in, offering the option of a high-quality real-time MP3 compression or an uncompressed WAV file.

A Mini Disc digital input is also included. Featured outputs are: common stereo line output for connection to an amplifier, and an optical digital output, as well as a configurable headphone output. The integrated slot for memory cards (MMC) allows the user to save a process from the Mini Disc to a memory card.

The c.a.r. 4000 can also be used simply to play audio tracks. Audio or data CDs, playlists, or MP3 MMC Winamp playlists can also be read, played, and extended. Other features include: an extensive timer for recordings and reproductions; automatic signal detection for recordings; PartyLock for password protection against prohibited use; and, an adjustable interface (normal and advanced). Most of these settings can be saved, edited, and loaded.

Important features:

  • Analogue and digital recordings from external components, microphones, or directly from an audio CD (MP3, WAV);
  • Reproduction of various audio formats, including MP3, WMA, or WAV, from an internal hard disk drive, CD, or MMC;
