| SANTA
CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 25, 2002-- Fujitsu PC
Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujitsu Limited (TSE:6702),
today announced the availability of its first Mobile Intel® Pentium®
4 Processor-M mobile computing solution with the LifeBook® C Series
-- an all-in-one multimedia notebook made popular for its unrivaled
price and performance.
Featuring Intel's new Mobile Pentium 4 processor-M running at 1.6GHz and the Intel 845MP chipset, Fujitsu's LifeBook C Series offers improved multimedia features that increase its overall appeal and retains its attractive price point of $1,999(1). The adoption of Intel's latest processor increases the audio, communications, entertainment, and digital video and imaging capabilities of the LifeBook C Series while further enhancing users' digital media experience. ``With the adoption of the Mobile Intel Pentium 4 Processor-M, the LifeBook C Series will continue its tradition of providing users the most advanced multimedia features available in an all-in-one design,'' said Sara Nelson, Fujitsu PC Corporation's vice president of marketing. ``We are confidant users will find the added features and increased functionality appealing to anyone interested in entertainment and productivity. The LifeBook C Series is a perfectly priced mobile computing solution with the ability to handle today's most robust applications and the headroom for the next generation of software applications, technology and Internet solutions.'' As Fujitsu's all-in-one multimedia solution, the LifeBook C Series is ideal for small-to-medium business professionals, first-time users and students. The LifeBook incorporates a 15-inch XGA display with excellent resolution to deliver a larger, enhanced DVD viewing experience. For superior video editing, smooth DVD playback and the ability to run graphics-intensive applications, the LifeBook C Series features an advanced ATI® Mobility RADEON(TM) 7500 video controller with 8MB of integrated video memory. Another feature adding to the computer's entertainment value is its ability to deliver high-quality audio via the bundling of Dolby Headphone software for virtual surround sound using stereo headphones or speakers. Users can experience 3D stereo sound when using the LifeBook's two built-in speakers through the adoption of SigmaTel Audio with wavetable. Its three-spindle design can accommodate a CD-ROM, DVD or DVD/CD-RW combo drive, a built-in floppy drive and the choice of a 20GB, 30 or 40GB hard drive(2). The notebook comes standard with 256MB DDR266 on-board system memory upgradeable to 512MB, a nine-cell Lithium ion battery and two Type II or one Type III PC card slots. The LifeBook features a built-in modem and Ethernet ports as part of its standard configuration, which makes it perfect for any type of networking environment. Fujitsu plans to maximize the functionality of Intel's new processor through the integration of WiFi(TM)-compliant wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11b) technology. This option will allow users to seamlessly roam throughout a wireless network and promotes the ability to compute anywhere. Fujitsu plans to ship units with wireless LAN ready in May 2002. Additionally, Fujitsu has included an S-video out port so users can connect their notebook to a television or projector; an optical digit out (SPDIF) port for transferring digital audio to a mini-disc recorder and an IEEE 1394 port are included as part of its standard configuration for lightning fast digital video and data transfer. The LifeBook C Series still offers an unprecedented four universal serial bus (USB) ports standard for increased expandability. Users can simultaneously connect up to four devices, including a mouse, keyboard, digital camera, scanner, zip drive, printer, directly to their notebook without the need of a USB hub. Another convenient feature of the LifeBook C Series is the Application Panel, which consists of four programmable one-touch launch buttons, providing fast and easy access to a variety of applications including email and Internet. The notebook comes with a software utility allowing users to define each button further enhancing the functionality of the unit for users. These buttons can also be used as CD-player controls for stop/eject, play/pause, fast forward and fast backward. The LifeBook C Series ships with either Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition or Windows XP Professional Edition and can be purchased through Fujitsu's retail and reseller channels(3) as well as at www.fujitsupc.com or 1-877-FPC-DIRECT. Users can customize their notebooks by utilizing Fujitsu's Configure To Order (CTO) program. Service and Support The LifeBook C Series incorporates the Fujitsu Service Assistant, a Web-based diagnostic and resolution application preloaded on the system. The Fujitsu Service Assistant provides support solutions to the most common issues that may be experienced with just a simple click of the mouse. The diagnostic program is designed to increase customer satisfaction by delivering faster, more effective service, thus avoiding user frustrations usually associated with slower, non-technology-based service programs. Fujitsu's LifeBook C Series is backed by a one-year International Limited Warranty for U.S. and Canadian customers. The warranty includes technical support, 24 hours a day, seven days a week(4).
