Wave Arts, Inc. Releases Version 2.0 of WaveSurround for Winamp

The WaveSurround Plugin for Winamp greatly enhances the MP3 listening experience

ARLINGTON, MA – Wave Arts, Inc., a leading developer of high end 3D audio and acoustic environment modeling technologies, announce the release of an enhanced version of WaveSurround, a powerful virtual surround plugin for the popular MP3 player, Winamp. This new version adds support for headphone listening.

Wave Arts, Inc. has developed WaveSurround in conjunction with Human Machine Interfaces, Inc., a developer of high performance audio API’s and applications including the InMotion 3D Audio Producer.

WaveSurround greatly enhances the listening experience by placing the listener "inside" the stereo mix. The surround field may be adjusted by simply moving virtual speakers around the listener.

"Allowing listeners to experience enhanced audio while using headphones has become critical with the large number of portable MP3 players entering the market," said Nick Skrepetos, C.E.O. of Human Machine Interfaces. "By enhancing the quality of MP3 files, the user is rewarded with an immersive and compelling listening experience on their desktop."

"Providing headphone support to the WaveSurround technology allows enhanced audio support to be utilized by a wider variety of musical applications," said Dr. Bill Gardner, Ph.D., C.E.O. of Wave Arts. "We are continually striving to provide the ultimate musical enhancement technology."

The technology featured in the WaveSurround plugin is the result of extensive research and development by Wave Arts over the past ten years. The plugin features state-of-the-art signal processing techniques including HRTF binaural processing and sophisticated cross-talk cancellation technology.

The WaveSurround technology is available for licensing and incorporation into any audio application or hardware platform.

The WaveSurround plugin is available for immediate download from http://www.wavearts.com.
