InterVideo Ships WinDVD 4

InterVideo's DVD Software Player Adds Over 30 New Features Including Extensive Audio Support, Video Desktop and Improved Time-Stretching

FREMONT, Calif., May 8 /PRNewswire/ -- InterVideo, Inc. today announced the availability of WinDVD 4, the latest version of the world's most popular DVD player. WinDVD 4 features over 30 new features and enhancements such as easier-to-use Time-Stretching and Video Desktop -- which lets you watch movies under your desktop icons while you work or check email. The new version also includes 10 new audio features including TruSurround XT (TM) from SRS Labs (Nasdaq: SRSL), for virtual surround sound over two speaker systems or headphones, plus over a dozen other improvements.

"SRS Labs is pleased that InterVideo has adopted TruSurround XT for this new release of WinDVD," said Jennifer Drescher, vice president of marketing for SRS Labs, Inc. "In this new version of their industry leading software, InterVideo continues to raise the standard for DVD software players. With TruSurround XT, SRS Labs and InterVideo are truly bringing the home theater experience to the desktop by allowing users to enjoy virtual 5.1 surround sound experience from their existing two speakers or headphones."

WinDVD 4's proprietary Time-Stretching feature allows a user to play a movie faster or slower without distorting the audio -- and with full multi-channel audio support. With WinDVD 4's updated time-stretching capabilities a user can utilize new "Finish by ... " and "View in ... " commands to control the time the movie will end. For example, a user might choose "Finish by 10:00 pm" or "View in 1 hour" and the playback speed of the movie is automatically adjusted by WinDVD 4 -- ideal for business travelers who want to get the most out of short flights and battery life. Time-stretching is not available on any other DVD player.

"Currently eight of the top ten PC manufacturers bundle InterVideo's WinDVD, and with over 25 million WinDVD users, it is the most popular DVD player in the world," said Steve Ro, CEO and co-founder of InterVideo. "With over 30 improvements like improved video and audio support and advanced features like time-stretching, WinDVD 4 is a great way to watch DVDs on your PC."

In addition to improving its outstanding picture quality, WinDVD 4 also sports a list of 10 new audio features, including:

     * SRS TruSurround XT: Based upon the patented TruSurround(R) technology
from SRS Labs, which is the established standard for virtual surround
sound, TruSurround XT also includes the unique features of SRS Dialog
Clarity(TM) and TruBass(R) and creates a 3D sound image from standard
       stereo material.

     * SRS Dialog Clarity: Feature film soundtracks are mixed specifically
for cinema playback, and loaded with the latest advancements in special
audio effects. As a result, playback of dialog from a DVD movie often
suffers and may become unintelligible. This patented SRS algorithm
enhances signal clarity and improves dialog intelligibility from all
       source material.

     * SRS TruBass: TruBass is a patented SRS technology that enhances bass
performance utilizing proprietary psychoacoustic techniques. These
techniques restore the perception of fundamental low frequency tones by
dynamically augmenting harmonics, which are more easily reproduced by
contemporary loudspeakers or headphones. Using TruBass, TruSurround XT
takes the bass information contained within the original audio track
and helps the speakers or headphones re-create it -- even if it is
below the speaker's low frequency limitations.

     * LFE Redirection: Richer sound without a subwoofer. WinDVD 4 redirects
the Low Frequency Effects (LFE) channel of 5.1 soundtracks to the main
speakers (or headphones) when there is not a subwoofer installed.

     * Dolby Dynamic Range Compression: Listen to DVDs without bothering the
person next to you. WinDVD 4 reduces the dynamic audio range of movies
to improve audibility in noisy environments, like airplanes, and to
avoid bothering others in quiet settings -- at night, for example.

     * Dolby ProLogic II: WinDVD 4 creates 5.1 channel sound from 2-channel
sources. This feature works on both encoded and non-encoded (music)
       content.

     * ICE Surround: InterVideo's proprietary audio processing enables
WinDVD 4 to create 5.1 and 7.1 channel output from 2-channel sources.
Again, this feature works on both encoded and non-encoded (music)
       content.

     * Dolby Surround EX: Decodes the rear-center channel on Surround EX
sources; ideal for 8-channel sound cards.

     * DTS-ES: Decodes the rear-center channel on DTS-ES sources; again, ideal
       for 8-channel sound cards.

     * DSP Effects: InterVideo has integrated technology from our digital
audio software, WinRip, to provide audio equalization and audio effects
       in WinDVD 4.

WinDVD 4 also features other new enhancements like:

     * Video Desktop: WinDVD 4 enables users to play movies as desktop
wallpaper, behind the desktop's icons and windows.

     * TV Out Support: WinDVD 4 makes it easier to use your computer as a
living room DVD player. WinDVD 4's TV out mode provides for
full-screen/mirror mode and automatic resolution changes (hardware must
       supports this).

     * PAL TruSpeed Playback: WinDVD 4 corrects the 4% speed error that other
players have when playing back PAL DVD titles sourced from film. WinDVD
automatically makes this adjustment and also uses time-stretching to
       maintain audio quality.

     * Play DVD from hard drive directory: WinDVD 4 allows users to play DVD
content from their hard drive. As DVD authoring becomes more prevalent,
this feature is vital for playing content from DVD authoring software.

     * Instant Replay and Skip Forward: WinDVD 4 enables users to use keyboard
controls to jump forward and backward in the movie or music.

     * Step Backward: WinDVD 4 adds a step backward function to compliment the
       existing step forward function.

     * Screen Capture Utility: WinDVD 4 also includes a screen capture utility
to easily capture, save and sort images from DVDs.

Pricing and Availability

WinDVD 4 is available immediately on the web at http://www.intervideo.com and will be available at Fry's and Micro Center stores in June.
