Creative's Latest Breakthrough In PC Audio: 6.1 PC Speakers With Dolby Digital Surround EX Support

Creative Inspire 6.1 6700 speakers with additional rear centre satellite deliver incredible audio realism in PC games, Dolby Digital Surround EX movies and digital music

Creative (Nasdaq: CREAF) the worldwide leader in digital entertainment products for the personal computer and the Internet, announces the Creative Inspire 6.1 6700. This outstanding 6.1 PC speaker system, which offers Dolby Digital® Surround EX support when connected to the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 sound card, includes a subwoofer and six satellites. The rear centre speaker ensures incredible audio realism in DirectSound® 3D game titles, Dolby Digital Surround EX DVD movies and digital music.

Available now, the Inspire 6.1 6700 offers cohesive spatial imaging with accurate, high-impact sound reproduction, giving listeners of any content a remarkably pure, involving listening experience in multi-channel PC games and movies. The additional rear centre channel provides crucial audio information in DirectSound 3D games, and also gives users a much smoother 'panning' effect as audio moves across the rear of the sound stage.

"This system maintains the exceptional standards set by other products in the Creative Inspire speaker family," explains Leonardo Colucci, Brand Manager for Speakers with Creative Labs Europe. "We took the satellite and subwoofer technology introduced with the Creative Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700 system and built on it to create this exciting addition to the range," he continues.

"It has everything gamers will need to enjoy the latest 6.1 releases, with ultra-clear voice, precise positioning and realistic audio perspectives, both front/rear and left/right," he adds. "Movie buffs will be delighted with its performance in Dolby Digital EX movies, too, especially when used with our new Sound Blaster® Audigy™ 2 sound cards," he concludes.

The Creative Inspire 6.1 6700 has a dynamic frequency response from 40Hz to 20kHz, ensuring a clean range of output. It delivers a total 82 Watts RMS system power for 6.1 positional audio on EAX and Microsoft® DirectSound 3D games and is the perfect audio delivery system for Dolby Digital Surround EX movies. When used with the new Sound Blaster Audigy 2, users will experience sound from six speakers and the subwoofer. Alternatively, they can enable the CMSS® (Creative Multi-Speaker Surround) up-mix facility to create a 6.1 sound field when using the speakers with a Sound Blaster 5.1 sound card.

The system has five satellites, each at 8 Watts RMS, and a front centre speaker at 20 Watts RMS. These are all built using Creative IFP™ (Image Focusing Plate) design technology, which employs a curved front baffle and a contoured driver flare to improve sonic accuracy without sacrificing tonal balance. The 22 Watt RMS subwoofer features a dual flared port tube which allows air to flow smoothly for cleaner bass reproduction, and a long-throw, 6.5-inch driver for rock-solid bass. Users can easily manage this powerful system using the compact, wired remote control, which includes a master volume/bass control, power switch and LED indicator.
