Home theater surround systems normally use five speakers: three across the front and two surround speakers on the sides. Until now, users with less than 5 speakers could not enjoy full home theater surround sound, but Dolby Virtual Speaker technology changes all that. Dolby Virtual Speaker technology uses an advanced psychoacoustics algorithm to create over two speakers, or more, the same surround effect produced by a multichannel system. Audio channels are processed through advanced "filters" that simulates the sonic signature of a speaker located within an acoustic space.
