THX Standards Ensure Signal Path Integrity and Simplified Installation for Home Theater Systems |
| BRISBANE, Calif. & SAN
RAFAEL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 6, 2003--Monster® Cable Products, Inc., the world's
leading manufacturer of high-end speaker, audio, video and computer cables, as well as AC
power conditioning products, and THX® Ltd., the founder of quality assurance programs for
superior cinema presentation and the leading provider of product certification and venue
design for the entertainment and consumer electronics industries, today announced the
introduction of the new Monster Ultra Series line of THX Certified Cables. The new line of
cables brings home theater enthusiasts and installers high performance cabling at a
reasonable price whether it is used with THX or non-THX certified components. Monster Cable, in alliance with THX, has produced this new line of certified products incorporating specifications researched and developed by THX. The certification standards include a series of electrical, physical and ergonomic specifications that guarantee top-notch sound reproduction and premium-grade construction. "Using Monster's new line of THX Certified cables guarantees trouble-free installation for consumers and eliminates installer callbacks caused by unexpected cabling problems," said Warren Mansfield, THX Technical Director. "By teaming with THX, Monster hopes to engage a less technically-oriented audience who cares about great picture and sound, but not necessarily the technology it took to get there." said Peter Radsliff, Monster's Director of Product Development & Marketing. "Consumers know both the Monster and THX brands stand for high performance and high value, and trust the underlying technology to be outstanding." THX developed cable specifications for accurate system connections because cabling is an important element in the signal path of home entertainment systems. Home theater systems, with their many additional channels and components, represent a unique challenge in maintaining the integrity of audio and video signals. A complete system typically includes source equipment, video monitors, a surround controller, room equalization, multi-channel amplification, and at least six loudspeakers. The cumulative effects of frequency response errors, hum, and other distortions become very audible in such complex, multi-channel home theater systems. The specifications by which THX certifies cables include:
