Alpine Unveils Premium Systems for Non-Stop Music in 2003

Mobile Multimedia Leader Takes Home FOUR Prestigious 'Innovations' Awards Alpine Electronics Booth: Las Vegas Convention Center, North Hall, Room #N115 http://www.alpine-usa.com

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Today at CES, Alpine Electronics of America, Inc., the industry-leading manufacturer of high performance mobile electronics, unveiled a broad range of premium performance products for building superior digital audio, visual and navigational systems in 2003. Underscoring the technical advancements and design achievements showcased in its 2003 product lines, Alpine was recognized with four prestigious CES "Innovations" Awards at this year's show.

"Alpine's 2003 product lineup leverages digital media technologic advancements of the past year to deliver premium performance systems that meet the personalized needs of mobile electronics enthusiasts," said Stephen Witt, Alpine's vice president of Brand Marketing. "This year in particular, consumers will see a very thoughtful product design approach that is centered on ease-of-use, total system performance and meeting the needs of our customers' non-stop digital lifestyles."

Setting the Standard for Compressed Digital Music Playback

In 2003, Alpine will introduce seven new in-dash CD players specifically designed for the new digital media user. The Alpine digital media advantage is based on technologies that deliver improved sound quality for compressed media formats (MP3/WMA/XM/CD), as well as the ease to manage and navigate these large music libraries. Alpine's exclusive Media Xpander(TM), a 500Mhz processor that restores the original detail to compressed digital media formats, delivers truer, more lifelike sound inside the car. To help users quickly navigate and manage these large capacity media formats, Alpine's new design concept is centered on a control button layout called Quick Search that works with the rotary encoder knob.

Alpine will offer 10 XM-ready CD head units in 2003, starting at under $200, as well as built-in MP3/WMA decoding, starting at under $300. All 2003 head units will allow for MP3 playback -- either through built-in decoding or through the easy addition of Alpine's CHA-S634 CD/MP3 changer. Many of Alpine's 2003 head units also feature integration capabilities with the company's new Innovations Award-winning MobileHub(TM) for the Nokia 6310i, the aftermarket industry's first hands-free mobile phone solution that fully integrates with a car audio system.

This year, Alpine will also introduce a 16GB removable hard disc drive player with the capacity to store up to 3,000 WMA and MP3 music tracks in the car. The HDA-5460 features powerful Media Driver(TM) PC software for easily downloading, burning, and managing digital music libraries, as well as Alpine's unique Quick Search feature for easily finding track or playlist selections.

Non-Stop Power and Ultimate Sonic Clarity

In 2003, Alpine will debut a new Innovations Award-winning 1000W model to its V12 AccuClass-D(TM) mono amp line, featuring a digital platform amp design with true built-in digital sound processing benefits. Alpine is the first to implement a complete digital architecture inside the chassis from input to power amplification stage. By being the first to incorporate this total internal digital architecture, Alpine is bringing DSP-based digital sound tuning and precision amplifier control to the market. Alpine will also bow an all new V-Power amplifier line, inspired by the popular V12 line, that is designed for the entry-level market.

Building on its popular subwoofer line, Alpine will introduce two new Type-R boxes featuring a Compound Reflex Design for maximum SPL. And on the speaker front, Alpine has designed an entirely new line of Type-S speakers with stylish cosmetics. The 2003 Type-S speakers are a perfect match for Alpine's Type-S subwoofers, which incorporate features and technology that deliver Alpine-caliber sound performance at a great price.

Building the Best Navigation and Rear Seat Entertainment Systems

Building on its industry lead in the mobile navigation market, Alpine will offer its award-winning PowerNav(TM) system together with a 5.8-inch in-dash monitor for $2,000. Alpine is the world leader in mobile navigation systems, with more than nine generations and 12 years experience in the Asian, European and North American markets.

For those looking to build a full navigation/mobile multimedia system, Alpine is launching its 2003 Innovations Award-winning IVA-D900 Mobile Multimedia Station(TM), a DVD-based in-dash head unit with the industry's highest resolution 7-inch WVGA screen. Alpine will also launch the industry's first multi-channel in-car system processor with integrated Dolby ProLogic II® technology, delivering theater-quality surround sound in the mobile environment. Offering supreme system control from a head unit and personalized sound tuning, Alpine's PXA-H700 Multimedia Manager(TM) allows consumers to enjoy a new benchmark in multi-channel in-vehicle sound. The PXA-H700 also received a 2003 CES Innovations Award.

Raising the Bar for the Industry with New AlpineF#1Status(TM) Products

In 2003, Alpine continues its commitment to the AlpineF#1Status philosophy by debuting three new benchmark audio products. The SPX-Z18T 3-way Component Speaker System, winner of the CES 2003 Innovations Award, and the SPX-Z15M single channel speaker system are designed to be the absolute best speaker systems for the mobile environment. The MRV-F900 four-channel amplifier will also debut this year, bringing a combination of advanced technology and ultra high-fidelity power to the AlpineF#1Status family.
