Alpine's PXA-H700 Multimedia Manager(TM) Wins 2003 Innovations Award |
| TORRANCE, Calif., Jan. 9
/PRNewswire/ -- Alpine Electronics of America, Inc., the industry-leading manufacturer of
high performance mobile electronics, today announced that it is shipping its highly
anticipated PXA-H700 Multimedia Manager, the first multi-channel audio processor with
integrated Dolby Pro Logic II® technology, for theater-quality surround sound in the
mobile environment. Offering supreme system control and personalized sound tuning from an
in-dash unit, Alpine's PXA-H700 allows consumers to enjoy a new level of multi-channel
in-vehicle sound. Alpine's new PXA-H700 Multimedia Manager is designed for three application targets. With any stereo source, the PXA-H700 delivers state-of-the-art vehicle sound tuning with 1/3 octave equalization, digital crossover and precise digital time alignment. For mobile multimedia systems with DVD, the PXA-H700 delivers high performance 5.1 surround multi-channel decoding in Dolby Digital® 5.1, Dolby Pro Logic II and DTS® formats. The PXA-H700 is also a system component that bridges the gap from two-channel stereo to multi-channel sound field reproduction with its on-board Dolby Pro Logic II decoding. Even when utilizing only four speakers, Dolby Pro Logic II creates a phantom center image, offering a re-creation of multi-channel sound from any two channel stereo source. Utilizing Alpine's exclusive MDAC 96KHZ/24 Bit multi-level digital-to-analog conversion technology co-developed with Burr Brown, the PXA-H700 delivers ultra-high quality sonic performance with precision sound tuning directly from the head unit. The PXA-H700 features 8-channel digital time correction to precisely align all speakers for maximum sound imaging; a digital equalizer that offers up to 165 bands of 1/3 octave equalization or 27 bands of parametric equalization; and an 8-channel digital crossover with variable slope adjustment and crossover points to deliver phase-shift free performance for any multiple amplifier system. In addition, the PXA-H700 features Alpine's own Media Xpander(TM) sound correction technology for enhanced audio quality from compressed media formats. "Alpine is firmly committed to pushing the envelope for high quality mobile multimedia sound, so we're incredibly excited to incorporate decoding for Dolby's breakthrough Pro Logic II in our new PXA-H700," said Stephen Witt, Alpine's vice president of Brand Marketing. "Combine this multi-channel sound capability with Alpine's exclusive digital sound tuning technology, and the PXA-H700 raises both the excitement and quality of in-vehicle entertainment to a new standard." "The combination of Alpine products and Dolby technologies provides consumers with a variety of product options that elevate the excitement and quality of in-vehicle entertainment to an entirely new standard," said Patrick Artiaga, Dolby Laboratories Director of Automotive Marketing. Alpine's PXA-H700 is shipping now through authorized Alpine retailers with a target retail price of $850.
