Winner of a Prestigious 2003 CES Innovations Award, the IVA-D900 Allows for Optimum System Building and Control From Centralized In-Dash Unit |
| TORRANCE, Calif., Jan. 9
/PRNewswire/ -- Alpine Electronics of America, Inc., the industry-leading manufacturer of
high performance mobile electronics, today announced its new IVA-D900 Mobile Multimedia
Station(TM), a premium in-dash DVD-based A/V head unit with a high resolution 7-inch WVGA
display. The IVA-D900 offers built-in playback for DVDs, CDs, CD-R/RW disks with MP3 files
and AM/FM tuning, combined with the industry's first WVGA, delivering the highest
resolution display on the market at 480x800 pixels. The IVA-D900 is ideal for those who
desire high performance sound quality and video playback, along with an intuitive user
interface to control a wide range of additional in vehicle electronics, such as an Alpine
satellite-linked PowerNav(TM) system, Alpine's PXA-H700 sound processor with Dolby Pro
Logic II®, XM Satellite Radio and DVD/CD/MP3 changers. "Alpine's new IVA-D900 delivers the ultimate in A/V system performance and control," said Steve Witt, Alpine's vice president of Brand Marketing. "On its own, the IVA-D900 is a premium audio and visual head unit, but its real power lies in its ability to serve as an intuitive, centralized hub for controlling a myriad of audio and visual components within the vehicle." Industry's Finest WVGA Monitor Scheduled to ship in March at a suggested target retail price of $2,300, Alpine's new IVA-D900 features the industry's first low-temperature poly-silicone WVGA that implements a wide viewing angle film, a low reflection high performance AG coating, and 340% higher resolution than current competitors at 480x800 pixels. Consumers will experience a brighter picture in direct sunlight with better off-axis viewing angles and better color saturation. The new design also uses smaller components in the build up of the screen, providing increased light transmission through the panel, while reducing weight and power consumption. The monitor is fully motorized, enabling the display to open and retract into the dash as the car is turned on and off. The "Killer App" for Building a Premium In-Car Multimedia System In addition to its extensive built in playback capabilities, the IVA-D900 features a dedicated navigation input plus three additional A/V inputs for integrating components into the system, as well as two A/V outputs for multi-monitor support. The IVA-D900 is also MobileHub(TM) Ready, allowing for easy integration with Alpine's new hands-free kit for select Nokia phones. Alpine's exclusive Quick Search feature provides an intuitive, on-screen graphical user interface for navigating through XM channels and digital music libraries. To meet the need for separate front and rear audio/video environments, Alpine has developed the "Multi-zone Audio Video Controller." This feature allows multiple sources be viewed and controlled through two separate zones of rear-seat monitors simultaneously while audio and navigation can be used in the front. The IVA-D900 delivers premium sound performance with Bass Engine® sound tuning, built-in Dolby Digital and DTS outputs and Media Xpander(TM) digital sound enhancement technology. Alpine's CVA-1004 Mobile Multimedia Station and KCE-104V Expansion Box In addition to the IVA-D900, Alpine will offer the $800 CVA-1004 Mobile Multimedia Station, featuring a fully motorized in-dash 6.5-inch widescreen monitor and AM/FM receiver. The CVA-1004 features a dedicated navigation input and is also XM Satellite Radio Ready, allowing for the easy addition of an Alpine XM tuner box. By adding Alpine's $300 KCE-104V expansion box, which allows for three A/V inputs (such as a DVD player, TV tuner and video game system) and two A/V outputs, drivers can use navigation in the front while controlling multi-monitor rear seat entertainment playback in the rear. The CVA-1004 also features the industry's first Digital Art Spectrum Analyzer, delivering cool visual effects across multiple monitors. The CVA-1004 and KCE-104V will be available in April.
