Zoran Corporation and Digital 5 Power New Wireless DVD Players

SONICblue's GoVideo D2730 and Other Brands on View at CES

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Zoran Corporation (Nasdaq: ZRAN) and Digital 5, Inc. announce that their technology collaboration is enabling wireless networked DVD players on display this week at CES in Las Vegas

Zoran's advanced Vaddis DVD multimedia processor IC powers SONICblue's new Go-Video® D2730 Networked DVD player. Digital 5's Netplay DVD client technology is the Vaddis-compatible software that allows consumers to stream digital pictures, music and video clips stored on a personal computer into the living room to be played on a television or home theater system for a superior viewing and listening experience.

"Technology from Zoran and Digital 5 greatly enhances the performance of our Go-Video D2730 Networked DVD player," said Ed Brahchocki, vice president product marketing video and audio products, SONICblue(TM). "Through our partnerships with Zoran and Digital 5 we were able to produce a product that not only was selected for a 2003 Innovations Award but also contributes to our strategy of connecting people to their entertainment."

"The goal of our Netplay development effort and close collaboration with Zoran was to enable companies like SONICblue to create a new category of wirelessly networked products, offering completely new capabilities for their customers," said Ron Stevens, president and CEO, Digital 5, Inc. "The fulfillment of this goal is clearly in sight with the demonstration of Netplay client and server technology by over ten industry partners and potential customers at CES 2003."

"Zoran is pleased that our strategic collaboration with Digital 5 has enabled us to play an important role in helping SONICblue produce an award winning product. This new GoVideo DVD player is the first of many exciting new products expected to come to market over the next year," said Camillo Martino, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Zoran Corporation.

The Vaddis enables Dolby Digital and DTS outputs for high-quality surround sound applications and provides 10-bit video digital to analog conversion plus 27 megahertz advanced digital filtering for the best quality video output.

Digital 5's Netplay technology for DVD players is an "end to end" solution that combines DVD client software with a UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) powered PC server application for organizing and streaming digital audio, picture, and video content. Companies or press interested in discussing Digital 5's Netplay technology at CES 2003 should contact Andrea Sorace at 609-759-4204 to set up an appointment.
