Zenith Family of Compact Home Theater Systems Combines DVD Players and Dolby Digital(R) Surround Sound

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- As the 2003 Consumer Electronics Show concludes here today, Zenith Electronics Corporation has introduced one of the industry's most extensive line-ups of Dolby Digital® home theater audio systems, eight new models built around DVD players and DVD/VCR combination models.

Zenith's new DVD home theater systems combine very compact surround sound speakers and subwoofers with AM/FM receivers. Ideal for small- and medium- sized rooms, the systems offer a broad array of digital entertainment solutions.

The four new systems featuring DVD players (Models DVT312, DVT313, DVT314, DVT216) feature a single-disc, progressive-scan DVD/CD player; five compact, magnetically shielded two-way speakers for left, right, center and rear channels; a subwoofer; a built-in AM/FM receiver; a system-wide remote control; and connecting cables.

The DVD players handle all basic DVD functions and are capable of decoding MP3 files as well as DVD, VCD, CD, CD-R/RW and WMA discs for Dolby Digital® and Dolby Pro Logic® surround formats.

The DVT312 handles a total of 200 watts, with 30 watts for each directional channel and 50 watts for the subwoofer. The DVT313, which also includes DTS capability, outputs 225 watts, with 35 watts for each directional channel and 50 watts for the subwoofer. The DVT314, also with DTS, handles a full 350 watts, with 50 watts per directional channel and 100 watts for the subwoofer. The DVT216 delivers 330 total watts, 50 watts for each directional channel and 80 watts for the subwoofer.

The DVT216 is available now at a suggested price of $349. The DVT312 is expected to be available in the second quarter at a suggested price of $199, with the DVT313 and DVT314 expected in the third quarter at suggested prices of $229 and $249, respectively. Zenith's current DA3520 DVD Dolby Digital Surround Sound System is available now at a suggested price of $299.

Three additional Dolby Digital Surround Sound Systems -- the XBS245, XBS341 and XBS346 -- feature DVD/VCR combos, as well as 5.1-channel speaker systems, an AM/FM tuner, system remote controls, and connection cables. The DVD players are single-disc, progressive scan models that handle basic DVD functions as well as MP3 files and DVD, VCD, CD and CD-R/RW discs for Dolby Digital and Dolby Pro Logic surround formats. The built-in VCRs are four-head hi-fi models.

The XBS245 and XBS346 systems each output a total of 350 watts, with 50 watts for each directional channel and 100 watts for the subwoofer. The XBS341 delivers 140 watts, with 20 watts per directional channel and 40 watts for the subwoofer. The XBS245 is available now at a suggested price of $399.
