The move significantly expands Level 9's involvement at the core of mid and high-end flat panel and conventional loudspeaker technology |
| Richmond,
February 12th, 2003 - Level 9* Sound Designs, Inc. today announced a
significant new OEM sales initiative that will increase its
penetration of the rapidly growing mid and high-end branded speaker
market. The plan calls for CAD Co., a veteran sales and engineering
team based in Toronto, to provide key loudspeaker brands with valuable
access to a unique umbrella of technology, purchasing power,
credibility and expertise in full solution systems engineering.
The goal: to allow a loudspeaker-based brand to develop customized,
turnkey integrated home theater systems emphasizing, but not limited
to, the benefits of Level 9's award-winning flat panel transducers.
In so doing, these brands will have a far more affordable and credible
point-of-entry to the expanding Home Theater product segments,
including HTIB and others.
In describing the announcement, Jack Fatum, President of Level 9 Sound Designs, said: "CAD Co will take Level 9 into the ODM high end integrated systems business, a key market to promote our award-winning transducers. By combining the enormous manufacturing, technical and resource toolbox of parent-company EASTECH with the flat panel expertise of Level 9 and the systems integration design and consulting background of CAD Co., we believe that loudspeaker brands can now become more significant players in the expanding markets of the Home Theater product segment." For more than 20 years, the CAD Co. group has designed, manufactured and sold on an ODM basis to such international brands as JBL, Infinity, Harman Kardon, Yamaha, Onkyo, Mission, Kef, Celestion, PSB and Dahlquist. In addition, Martin Stec, CAD Co's President, spearheaded the launch of the Bravox line of speaker drivers to the Canadian market. In addition to selling integrated systems utilizing flat panel and high performance cone drivers, CAD Co will focus on the market for standalone cone drivers and transducers in this segment. Fatum added: "This alliance will significantly alter the competitive landscape in the rapidly expanding Home Theater Systems product categories. Now, a brand whose operation is solely, or largely, focused on loudspeaker development can bring to market products that reach a broader and more cutting-edge buying segment, without committing to increased internal infrastructure. It's a true win-win scenario and we look forward to working with the entire Cad Co. organization." The Cad Co. team includes: Martin Stec, President; David A. Dunn, Director of Sales (30 years experience in the audio industry); Richard Hunter P. Eng (VP Engineering, a graduate of Salford in the U.K. with experience in designing and voicing systems for Kef and project management); and Jeff Myers, CAD Co's Boston-based rep (one of the three original founders of Boston Acoustics).
