Hollywood, CA - May 6th, 2003 - Bill Black (www.bigfatkittyllc.com), whose credits include Black Hawk Down - the number one selling computer game in North America, is an independent sound effects designer and voice over producer based in Hollywood dedicated exclusively to servicing the video game industry. After being repeatedly contracted in the early 90’s by Activision for consultation on MIDI implementation for games, Bill Black started his own company (www.bigfatkittyllc.com), providing consultation and sound effects design and voiceover direction, casting and production for game developers and publishers. As a game player, and an audio engineer and director Black attests that video game sound effects and voice over, although similar to television, animation and film, have special needs that only gamers can fully understand. Bill remarks, "I have done voice over acting, directing, producing, audio engineering, editing and sound effects design. The important thing is I have done them all. That means I understand everyone’s duty, the importance of that duty, and how to make all the best people work together to make great audio for games". Bill Black casts and records in various studios around Hollywood and his studio features a full audio editing suite using Pro Tools Mix Plus, a Kyma Capybara system with 90 gigabytes of sound effects all in the digital domain. His company has co-ordinated, cast and directed dozens of PC and videogame titles. One of Bill’s most recent projects is Novalogic’s Delta Force Black Hawk Down. As the game’s casting director Bill co-ordinated the casting for all English, Somali and Arabic character voice overs for Black Hawk Down. He was also responsible for editing the dialog recordings. In April 2003, Black Hawk Down debuted as the number one selling PC game in North America and has held that position for 4 weeks. As well, Bill Black was the Voice Producer for BioWare’s highly acclaimed RPG epic Neverwinter Nights, for which he managed the entire voice over production in Hollywood. Says Black, "Most all games need character voiceover. All the character voice actors worth recording are here in Hollywood. Game developers can send me a script and I can handle as much or as little of the voice over productions as each client needs." Neverwinter Nights is a winner of more than 80 industry awards, including numerous best audio accolades. GameSpy concluded, "The voice acting is among the best in the business". Best-selling titles featuring sound effects design and/or voice over work by Bill Black include: Black Hawk Down (casting, editing), Neverwinter Nights (character, voice over Producer), Call To Power II (voice and SFX), The Weakest Link (US version, voices), Civilization III (voice and SFX), Kessen II (voice actor editing), Little Mermaid II (dialog editing, multiple foreign languages), Tigger (dialog editing, multiple foreign languages), Asteroids (SFX), Battlezone (voice and SFX), Dark Reign II (weapon SFX), Mech Warrior Clan Ghost Bear (some SFX, all voice over), Mech Warrior Mercenaries (some SFX, all voice over).
