| BEAVERTON, Ore.--(BUSINESS
WIRE)--Oct. 10, 2003--Audio Precision: The enhanced 2700 series continue to provide the
unmatched distortion and noise performance required to test the latest advances in
converter technology, while raising the bar with new single connector, 192k digital input
and output. Audio Precision (http://audioprecision.com), the world leader in audio test and measurement for nearly two decades, today made available the 2700 series audio test and measurement instruments. The 2700 series are based on the award-winning System Two Cascade and Cascade Plus lines. Instruments are fully compatible with Audio Precision's broad line of accessories, options and filters originally designed for System Two instruments. These instruments are the only solutions for test and measurement of 192k-based converters and devices. The 192k 2700 series provide up to 100kHz bandwidth digital signal and up to 200kHz bandwidth analog signal generation and analysis as well as providing single connector digital connectivity. Most new analog-digital converter designs use a 192kHz sample rate and many also specify a 24-bit dynamic range. Many new audio devices now specify 192k/24-bit quality in order to take advantage of these high-performance converters. The 2700 series analyzer is the only instrument that can characterize these devices to 192k/24-bit quality. This can only be done using test equipment with higher performance specifications. Other competitive analyzers employ internal converters to create and analyze analog signals, performing these functions more cheaply with DSP technology. Unlike Audio Precision 2700 series instruments, these instruments are only as good as their converters, typically at least a generation behind the latest developments. The Audio Precision 2700 series (and their System Two Cascade and Cascade Plus predecessors) are unique in generating and analyzing analog signals in their native domain without employing converters. This assures a performance exceeding the best converters available. All four ports, analog and digital generation and analysis, can handle the full 192k/24-bit performance. In addition to 192k capabilities, the 2700 series instruments also come with enhanced control software. Audio Precision has changed the "APWIN" name to "AP 2700" control software and made some important improvements. Customers will appreciate the thoughtfully designed external sweep function, additional graphic file formats, and ActiveX automation. These are just a few of the significant changes that will excite and please new and long-time customers. The 192k 2700 series instruments are available for order and shipment.
