Altec Lansing Sets New Standard In PC, TV, Home Audio Sound Via Stylish MX5021 Powered Audio System

Premium-Quality Speaker System is Altec Lansing's Best 2.1 Multimedia Solution Yet; Elegant Product Features Polished Piano Finish, THX(R) Certified Sound for Spectacular Performance

MILFORD, Pa., Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Altec Lansing® Technologies, Inc., the leader in the design and manufacture of Powered Audio products for today's multimedia devices, today announced its new MX5021 Powered Audio System. A premium product, the breakthrough THX-Certified MX5021 delivers a high end, executive-style look and sound never before possible in a Powered Audio system.

"As portable audio devices and PCs increasingly become the primary source for entertainment, many of our customers are looking for a sophisticated powered audio system that can provide a high level of design and performance," said Bob Garthwaite, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Altec Lansing Technologies. "We are excited to launch a sound system that so accurately meets these needs. With its elegant curves and a classic piano finish, the MX5021 is perfect for this growing market segment. Not only is it a remarkably attractive system for home or office, but it also delivers exceptionally rich, accurate sound for a wide variety of music."

Sophisticated Sound and Design

Featuring a polished, piano-quality black finish suitable for any decor, the MX5021 includes two three-way satellite speakers and a subwoofer. Together, the system generates an impressive 103dB with peaks as high as 111dB. Two custom designed, high fidelity midrange drivers in each satellite produce extremely responsive sound, while the horn-loaded tweeter offers extra wide, crystal-clear dispersion of high frequencies necessary for realistic reproduction of music and movies.

Adding to the versatility of the MX5021 is its suitability for PC-based home theater and gaming. The system's THX® certification assures cinema- quality sound for DVDs and other forms of video entertainment. An auxiliary input jack allows users to connect two different audio sources - an MP3 jukebox and CD player for example - at the same time, for unmatched listening convenience. The systems satellites can also be wall mounted, providing maximum installation flexibility in any room of the home.

Easy Connection and Control

Two control units give MX5021 owners total command of their audio environment. A sleek, ultra-slim wireless remote provides bass, treble, and master volume control from anywhere in the room, while a desktop control pod enables similar adjustment while seated at the PC.

To make hookup to MP3 players, portable stereos, game systems, even televisions as simple as possible, the MX5021 features a 3.5 mm jack as well as an RCA adaptor. A headphone jack is included for private listening.

Shipping October 2003

Altec Lansing's new MX5021 Powered Audio speakers are priced at $199.95 (MSRP) and will begin shipping to home electronics, computer, and other home entertainment retailers in October 2003. For information about Altec Lansing's full line of Powered Audio(TM) products, visit www.alteclansing.com.
