I/OMagic Set to Ship 8X DVD Dual-Format Rewritable Drive in Late October

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 22, 2003--I/OMagic Corporation (OTCBB:IOMG), a leading developer and marketer of optical data storage solutions and digital entertainment devices, announced today that it will begin shipping the next generation of high-speed dual drives into the North American marketplace in late October 2003. The new internal DVD+/-RW/+/-R Dual Format 8X DVD Rewritable drive burns all standard media discs, including DVD+R/+RW, DVD-R/-RW and CD-R/-RW and is compatible with a broad variety of DVD players. As of the distribution date of this announcement, I/OMagic will be one of just two companies to ship an 8X Dual drive.

"Demand for DVD rewritable drives is being driven by the growing popularity of digital photography, digital video and digital music -- all of which feed consumers' need for fast, flexible optical storage solutions. We're excited to bring this versatile new drive to market so soon," said Tony Andrews, Vice President of Engineering and Product Development for I/OMagic Corporation.

"Consumers will no longer have to worry about what type of media to buy or the differences between plus and minus rewritable technologies. Our DVD+/-RW/+/-R Dual Format 8X DVD Rewritable drive combines the best of the best technologies into one flexible product."

The DVD+/-RW/+/-R Dual Format 8X DVD Rewritable drive is an 8x4x12x DVD Rewritable drive and a 40x24x40x CD Rewritable drive. It includes Pinnacle software and new CD burning technology that increases storage capacity, giving users up to 1.4 GB of storage space on standard CD-R (double the normal storage capacity of an average CD-R).

The 8X DVD Rewritable drive includes Pinnacle's award-winning Studio 8 SE video editing software, Instant CD/DVD SE disc burning suite and Pinnacle Expression software. These Pinnacle products empower users to create and edit home movies, burn DVDs and CDs in all popular formats, as well as watch and store home movies, photos and MP3s on either DVD or CD discs. Operating systems supported are Windows XP/2000/Me/98SE.

The new I/OMagic DVD+/-RW/+/-R Dual Format 8X DVD Rewritable drive is set to begin shipping in late October 2003 to Best Buy, CompUSA, Fred Meyer, Staples stores and Dell.com, with an introductory price of $199.99.
