Yamaha to Unveil New Multimedia and Peripheral Products at Comdex in Las Vegas
Yamaha Invites Attendees to 'See and Hear the Future' of Computer Multimedia; See Yamaha at Booth M644 in the Sands Expo & Convention Center


BUENA PARK, Calif., Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Yamaha Corporation of America will break through the ranks of the computer multimedia and peripherals marketplace by announcing several dynamic new products at COMDEX Fall, November 16-20, 1998, in Las Vegas, NV. Yamaha will unveil: the CRW4416, the industry's first 4x rewritable CD-recorders; the YST-MS55D, Yamaha's first USB-based speakers; and the WaveForce 192 Digital soundcard during the computer industry trade show.

Yamaha will also announce its strategic roadmap for the development of future high-speed CD-RW and DVD drives, to demonstrate its continued technological leadership position in the category. Yamaha's new products at COMDEX will include:

    -- New ReWritable CD Recorders - Five brand new 16x-read speed models,

       showcasing the world's first 4X ReWrite Speed drives. Yamaha introduces

       a new, full line of CD recorders, including: the CRW2216SZ, an internal

       SCSI-2; the CRW2216E, an internal E-IDE drive; the CRW4416EZ, an

       internal E-IDE drive; the CRW4416S, an internal SCSI-2 drive; and the

       multi-platform CRW4416SXZ, supporting Windows 95/98/NT and the

       Macintosh operating system. All of the new drives feature an expanded

       software bundle.  Yamaha's fast, advanced CD-recorders are designed for

       digital image storage, archiving and music recording.



    -- New multimedia speakers - Featuring a sophisticated new design, the

       YST-MS55D is Yamaha's first USB speaker product, a three-piece system

       delivering 80 watts of power; also on display will be the new YST-MS50,

       a non-USB, three-piece system offering 80 watts of power.



    -- The new WaveForce 192 Digital soundcard - Representing the perfect

       upgrade to your PC, the new PCI soundcard boasts Sensaura's incredible,

       A3D-compatible, 3D positional sound and an impressive software bundle.

       The WaveForce 192 Digital features a digital S/P DIF output as well as

       a highly refined A-D and D-A converter, and PhatTM Stereo 3D

       Enhancement, for enhanced support for 3D audio.  The WaveForce 192XG,

       priced at just $69 (ESP), delivers imaginative 3D sound that creates an

       immersive environment for gamers, audio enthusiasts and music lovers.



    -- The new YST-MS28 speakers - An elegantly-designed three-piece system,

       the YST-MS28 offers compact satellites and a 5-inch subwoofer that

       delivers vivid sound for games and music - all for under $80.  The

       YST-MS28 system also features dual stereo inputs.

In addition, Yamaha will display a wide selection of powered multimedia speakers: the YST-M100, a two-piece 40W system; YST-M8, a two-piece 10W system; YST-MSW8, a 15W subwoofer; the YST-MS20DSP, a two-piece 20W system; the YST-M15, a two-piece 20W system; and the YST-MSW10, a 25W subwoofer.

Yamaha will also showcase its new PC Music Studio products: the PSR225PC; the PSR195PC and the PSR530PC. The PC Music Studio products are designed to teach users how to play the keyboard using any standard PC.

Yamaha's new product announcements complement the company's invitation to COMDEX attendees to ``See and Hear the Future,'' an exciting multimedia presentation debuting inside the Yamaha booth (Booth M644, Sands Expo and Convention Center). This presentation will chart Yamaha's future plans and its commitment to delivering quality products to business customers and consumers. Yamaha will offer COMDEX attendees who view the presentation an opportunity to win a Yamaha 4x4 All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV).

Yamaha show times in the booth are Monday: 10:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Friday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
