Cambridge SoundWorks Announces FourPointSurround FPS2000

Cambridge SoundWorks Announces High-Power, High-Output Four-Channel PC Speaker System For Serious Gamers

FourPointSurround FPS2000 Delivers Ultimate Realism - Including High Volume Levels and Gut-Wrenching Bass - for DirectSound 3D and Environmental Audio Games

NEWTON, Mass., Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Cambridge SoundWorks, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Creative Technology Ltd. (Nasdaq: CREAF - news), today introduced the FourPointSurround FPS2000 system, a high-power, high-output version of its acclaimed PCWorks FourPointSurround four-channel multimedia speaker system. FourPointSurround FPS2000 uses larger satellites, a more powerful amplifier, and a substantially larger subwoofer to produce true high-performance three-dimensional sound for the serious PC gamer.

The four-channel FPS2000 system creates a palpable front-to-rear sound field that takes full advantage of the ``virtual reality'' potential of the new generation of positional audio games using the four-channel audio capabilities of Creative's Environmental Audio technology and Microsoft's DirectSound 3D games.

``The FourPointSurround FPS2000 was designed as a powerful sound system for our Environmental Audio Platform,'' said Sim Wong Hoo, founder and chief executive officer at Creative. ``This four-channel speaker system delivers the ultimate gaming experience for Environmental Audio games and music.''

``FourPointSurround FPS2000 delivers the chest-pounding bass and very high sound levels that serious gamers love,'' said Tom Hannaher, Cambridge SoundWorks' senior vice president of marketing. ``When used with Creative's new Sound Blaster Live! Sound card and a game like Unreal, from Epic MegaGames, FPS2000 delivers an absolutely incredible environmental audio experience. The experience with the FPS2000 and the ultra-realistic acoustic modeling of Creative's Environmental Audio goes way beyond what a PC sound system has ever offered. Period.''

A Serious Gamer's Sound System

FourPointSurround FPS2000 consists of four high-output satellite speakers with 2 1/2`` long-throw drivers, a high-output powered subwoofer with long-throw woofer, and a five-channel amplifier (25 watts RMS to the woofer, 7 watts RMS to each satellite speaker). The system also includes a separate volume/fade volume control and two 18'' speaker stands for use with the rear speakers.

A Powerful Sound System for Music

FourPointSurround FPS2000 also reproduces music with accuracy and clarity covering the complete range of sound - including great bass. FPS2000 features a smooth, natural octave-to-octave tonal balance normally associated with expensive home stereo speakers.

Easily Affordable.

The suggested retail target price of FourPointSurround FPS2000 will be under $200. It is expected to ship next quarter.
