HanGo Electronics Ramps Up to Deliver the First, Highly Portable, Rechargeable, MP3 Player With Mass Storage

Originally developed by Compaq's Corporate Research Laboratories; Massive Hard Drive Allows Users to Conveniently and Easily Store Over 1000 of Their Favorite Songs

FULLERTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 26, 1999-- HanGo Electronics, Co., Ltd., one of the leading manufacturers of remote controls and other consumer electronic devices, today announced the delivery of a new, revolutionary, portable MP3 player product called the Personal Jukebox which is set to launch in early November. HanGo Electronics, located in Korea, is the proprietor of the licensing agreement for the Personal Jukebox product, which was originally designed and developed by Compaq Computer Corporation's Corporate Research Labs. Remote Solution, HanGo's United States division, will be the marketing source for this unique music product which gives music lovers an easy, convenient, high quality portable music experience that is unparalleled.

Independent market research indicates that MP3 and similar digital audio formats will become the standard for the distribution of music to customers. ``In light of such research, we feel confident that by combining Compaq's expert design with HanGo's manufacturing skill, the Personal Jukebox gives music lovers an easy-to-use, high quality, reliable solution that will not only increase their musical experience, but revolutionize the way people listen to music,'' said David Ahn, General Manager of Remote Solution.

The Personal Jukebox allows users to carry their entire music collection in one device, similar in size and weight to a typical portable CD player, while providing significant features and benefits such as hard drive storage, reliable skip free protection, user friendly interface, easy music management, fast connectivity, and long battery life.

-- Massive Hard Disk Storage: 4.86GB Hard Drive provides up to 81
hours of total music storage, which is equivalent to 100 CDs.

-- Portable/Skip Free MP3 Player: Small device, measuring 150 x 26 x
80 mm provides for ultimate compactness, but does not jeopardize
skip free capabilities. Additional jitter elimination provides
     high quality sound.

-- User-Friendly Interface: Contains high-resolution LCD display
with easy-to-use operations involving only six buttons.

-- Easy Music Management: The included Jukebox Manager software runs
on the user's PC and allows for easy downloading and control of
the contents of the Personal Jukebox.

-- Fast Connectivity: USB connection from the desktop to the
Personal Jukebox makes it quick and easy to perform drag-and drop
file transfers with the Jukebox Manager.

-- Long Battery Life: The Personal Jukebox uses a rechargeable
Lithium Ion battery with a built-in charger, providing a full 10
     hours of battery life.
