Sensaura Licenses EAX™ Audio Effects for Cirrus Logic’s PC Audio Ics EAX Enables Up to 26 Simulated Sound Effects, Extending Cirrus Logic’s Audio Leadership |
| Sensaura announced today that it will license Environmental Audio Extensions (EAX) for Cirrus Logic PCI audio chips. This agreement expands upon Cirrus Logic’s recent decision to license Sensaura’s 3DPA technology for their PC audio chips. EAXÔ is a property set extension that enables software developers to build fully interactive real world audio into their games. Using the appropriate Cirrus Logic DSP chip, games players will now be able to experience up to 26 simulated sound effects that accurately reflect the surrounding games environment through reverberation techniques, simulating for example the surrounding effects of a mountainous environment, a cave and even a sewer-pipe. Since the EAX extensions (use or are compatible with) Microsoft’s DirectSound3D API, they are easily accessed by the majority of 3D games developers. "This enhanced 3D capability will generate great interest in the gaming world, and will provide more realistic sound effects than are possible today."
