Sensaura™ Announces EAX™ Support for ESS Technology

Sensaura™ Announces EAX™ Support for ESS Technology’s Maestro-2E and 2EM™ Audio Products

November 17, 1998 – Sensaura, a Scipher company, announces its support of Creative Labs’ Environmental Audio Extensions (EAX™) with ESS Technology, Inc. ESS’ Maestro-2E and Maestro-2EM™, premier digital signal processing audio products incorporate 3D positional audio capabilities from Sensaura.

Sensaura enables the Maestro chips with the EAX extension through the Microsoft® Direct3DSound® API – considered the audio standard of the computer gaming industry.

EAX is a property set extension that uses reverberation techniques that allow software developers to incorporate fully-interactive audio into PC games and other applications. With the EAX property set, PC game enthusiasts can experience simulated sound effects that accurately reflect the surrounding game environment. In total, twenty-six different environmental effects are available with EAX, including underwater and stone corridor surround effects.

"We are pleased to see Sensaura using EAX capabilities. This validates EAX as a great mechanism for extending 3D audio. This announcement also benefits the game development industry, as they look for practical ways to implement enhanced 3D audio technology," explains George Thorn, director of developer relations for Creative Labs.
