A
Boon for PC Enthusiasts and Gamers

| SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS
WIRE)--Dec. 6, 1999--Digital Theater Systems (DTS) has completed its certification process
and notified Yamaha of its approval of Yamaha's XG-Movie 5.1(TM) Digital Surround Card.
The Yamaha XG-Movie 5.1, targeted at PC enthusiasts and game users, includes Yamaha's
YMF744 and YSS912 audio chips, which support DTS(TM) Digital Surround and Dolby
Digital(TM). The new audio card provides a variety of surround effects such as church,
jazz, hall, disco, live, stadium and theatre using a sub-DSP (digital signal processor) in
the Yamaha YSS912. Following in the footsteps of the parent Cinema division, DTS soundtracks are now available for a wide variety of Consumer applications, including 5.1-channel Music Recordings on compact disc, Movies on DVD, and soon Games and other programming on DVD-ROM. Each DTS-encoded soundtrack is sonically identical to the original audio master, when decoded through the XG-Movie 5.1 sound card, resulting in 5.1 discrete channels of incredible sound, for all PC audio playback systems. The Yamaha XG-Movie 5.1 is a high fidelity, PCI sound card that outputs 6 (5.1) channels of audio (left, right, left-surround, right-surround, center and LFE, sometimes referred to as subwoofer) and delivers cinema quality effects. The card accepts both analog and digital input sources and provides both analog and digital output. ``We've worked closely with Yamaha to develop this affordable upgrade for PC audio playback systems,'' said David DelGrosso, Director of Consumer Marketing for DTS. ``Both DTS and Yamaha are dedicated to perfecting and enhancing the audio experience for everyone from movie goers, to gamers and PC enthusiasts, and this 5.1 sound card represents a major advancement in the entertainment value of everyone's PC system.'' ``DTS has ignited a whole new surround sound market with their Digital Surround technology, making them an excellent partner for Yamaha,'' said Jose R. Villafuerte, Director of Sales and Marketing, Yamaha Systems Technology, Inc. ``At Yamaha we look forward to continuing this relationship which will benefit listeners everywhere.''
