Silicon Magic, Jenmar Visual Systems and Star Multimedia Collaborate to Optimize Product Demonstrations

Event Showed off Three Compatible Technologies

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 7, 1999--In an unusual collaborative effort, three separate companies worked together on December 1st to show their complementary products and technologies to best advantage. Silicon Magic's new 3D Video Graphics Controller chip for notebook PCs provided the graphics engine for the demonstration. Star Multimedia's PC-based Surround Sound Home Theater solution provided the audio, and Jenmar Visual systems provided a high contrast rear projection, fifteen-foot diagonal video wall. Together the technologies created a true multimedia experience.

``The event was a wonderful way to demonstrate capabilities of the newly-developed integrated graphics controller with embedded DRAM. The memory integration trend is gaining momentum, and Silicon Magic is showing a great leadership potential. I was very impressed,'' said Nick Schwartzman, Director of Semiconductor Research at IDC (International Data Corporation), Mt. View, CA.

``I believe I speak for my colleagues, as well as for Silicon Magic, when I applaud the collaboration,'' said Brent Wientjes, Vice President and General Manager for the Silicon Magic PC Graphics business. ``We worked together to enhance one another's products, and as a result, presented each of the technologies performing in a real life environment.''

``We were pleased to provide the ideal platform for our friends at Silicon Magic and Star Multimedia,'' said John DiLoreto, Vice President Sales & Marketing, and CTO for Jenmar. ``BlackScreen(TM) is the definitive rear projection screen for critical viewing of high-quality video.''

Stan Lim, President of Star Multimedia concurred. ``We know that good graphics are enhanced by great audio, and vice versa,'' he said. ``The new surround sound audio with Dolby Digital and DTS capability is the best in PC audio available today.''

The new Silicon Magic SM3110 chip has 4MB of embedded DRAM with an integrated 2D/3D video graphics engine for PC Notebooks and Industrial PCs. Engineering samples are available now, and production quantities will be available in the first quarter of 2000.

Star Multimedia's Cinema 5.1 Surround Sound Star PCI card is available now. Their Channel Home Theater speaker system, an integrated unit for home use, will ship in the second quarter of 2000.

Jenmar Visual Systems' patented BlackScreen, using beaded film technology is employed by world-leading display companies for computer monitor and large screen video applications, including home theater.
