| MARLBORO, Mass.--(BUSINESS
WIRE)--Dec. 7, 1999--Media 100 Inc. (NASDAQ:MDEA ) and Sonic Solutions (NASDAQ:SNIC) today
announced the availability of DVDit!SE(TM) for iFinish(TM). iFinish is Media 100's new
family of streaming media production systems for Windows NT® that enables Web site
designers and video producers to create high-quality video for the Internet, CDROM, and
DVD-ROM as well as traditional broadcast formats like Betacam and digital D1 tape.
DVDit!SE for iFinish is a Media 100-specific version of DVDit!, the new DVD authoring tool
for the Windows platform from Sonic Solutions, the industry leader in DVD solutions.
iFinish customers who purchase the new iFinish RealTimeMPEG Option(TM) will receive
DVDit!SE for iFinish at no additional cost. With DVDit!SE for iFinish, users can now create complex interactive content on their PC and publish it on DVD-Video, DVD-ROM, and CD-R. Combining an easy-to-use user interface with Sonic's award-winning DVD formatting technology, DVDit!SE and iFinish provide customers with a turnkey solution for creating high-quality video and highly interactive DVDs - all in one system. Designed to work directly with MPEG-2 video created with iFinish's RealTimeMPEG Option(TM), DVDit!SE allows producers to create interactive DVD titles with multiple menus linking to motion video, slide shows or other graphic content. With a simple drag-and-drop interface, building DVD titles is as simple as selecting a menu background and moving MPEG-2 video files onto it to create interactive links. DVDit!SE automatically builds buttons and interactivity, transcodes still graphics or AVI files to MPEG-2, and formats content for playback in consumer set-top DVD players or DVD-equipped PCs. ``DVD is fast becoming ubiquitous as the number of set-top DVD-Video and PC-based DVD-ROM units continues to grow at the fastest rate of any video device in history,'' said John Molinari, chief executive officer of Media 100. ``The ability to display full-screen, high-resolution video on a PC monitor is driving the use of DVD-ROM for everything from training to marketing to e-commerce. This explosive growth is creating a new market for integrated video production and high-quality DVD authoring. We partnered with Sonic Solutions to produce a feature-rich version of DVDit! for Media 100 that would allow our customers to exploit the richness of the DVD format.'' ``Customers interested in producing video for DVD-ROM want a video production environment that is tightly integrated with a robust, yet easy to use DVD authoring package,'' said Mary Sauer, senior vice president of business development at Sonic Solutions. ``DVDit!SE for iFinish adds high-quality DVD authoring to the streaming media production capabilities of iFinish, delivering a complete solution for today's new media content creators.''
