Soundproof Studios Prepares for 5.1 With Euphonix

Commercial Studio Is First to Install New System 5 in Los Angeles

PALO ALTO, Calif., Dec. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Euphonix Inc., (Nasdaq: EUPH) announced today that the Los Angeles commercial recording facility, Soundproof Studios, has ordered the new Euphonix System 5 high-performance digital audio console. Soundproof is the first Southern California commercial music installation of the new 24-bit/96k mixing system from Euphonix.

``As more of our clients booked the room for DVD and other surround projects, we knew it was time to upgrade the room to an entirely digital console. As a commercial facility catering to many different tastes, we also knew we would need a digital console that was both flexible and easy to use. The Euphonix System 5 easily met those parameters,'' said studio owner, Deiter Meier.

``System 5 is easily accessible to any engineer who might be in our room. It's so logically laid out that it's easy to get up and running on the board within minutes,'' said studio manager, Martin Kloiber. ``24-bit/96k is quickly becoming the music and DVD industry standard, Soundproof Studios will be at the forefront of this transition.''

Scheduled for initial operation in January 2000, Soundproof is the third commercial music recording facility to commit to the Euphonix digital console since its September AES debut. The other two facilities include The Hit Factory New York and Miami's Criteria Studios.

``The Euphonix has the only large format 24-bit/96k digital console available today. With an almost zero learning curve, System 5 is fun and easy to use and very intuitive. Any engineer can sit down behind this desk and immediately start recording or mixing. The Euphonix System 5 is the first digital console that is able to capture the warm sonic qualities reminiscent of analog but with greater dynamic range and lower noise,'' said Euphonix Western Region Vice-President, Rich Nevens. ``This coupled with the recall and automation capabilities of System 5 provide for an enjoyable mixing and tracking experience.''

``The Euphonix System 5 is a high-speed digital audio mixing system comprised of a programmable control surface, digital mixer core, digital and analog interfaces, and eMix, a system management software program. Every channel on the System 5 has exactly the same features: monitor channels, input channels, effects returns, the same number of busses and sends, EQ, Filters, and dynamics. This design greatly simplifies routing and operation and channel assigning. System 5 is designed to address high-end music market segments that had not previously been served by the CS Series with prices starting at about $250,000.
