Visit www.i2Go.com to 'Boost your eGo' MP3 Player with Free Upgrades |
| ATLANTA, Dec. 29
/PRNewswire/ -- i2Go.com(TM), a pioneer and premier provider of digital interactive
equipment and services, announced today the availability of Flash Firmware upgrades for
the eGo(TM) interactive digital audio player at http://www.i2Go.com.
i2Go is the first Internet media company to deliver Flash Firmware upgrades to an MP3
player via the Internet. The eGo interactive digital audio player, which debuted in October 1999, transforms the car stereo into a new generation Internet appliance; bringing rich media content such as news, sports, weather, information and entertainment from the Internet to the car. The eGo's current capabilities already reach far beyond the ability to manage and listen to music play lists. Unique interactive features such as MP3Mail(TM), MP3Chat(TM) and e-mail2Go(TM) allow users to convert e-mails into audio and record responses or notes as MP3 files. In the future, the eGo will support other interactive features such as full interactive digital audio. Available now, users of the eGo interactive digital audio player can ``boost their eGo'' by downloading free and instantaneous upgrades from http://www.i2Go.com. Installation is simple. Users login to http://www.i2Go.com (with the eGo connected via USB port to a PC) and download eGoBooster.exe by clicking on the ``upgrade your eGo'' link (v1.03). The user then unzips the files to the directory of choice and double clicks on ``eGoBooster.exe'' and the eGo has been boosted -- flash upgrade! Sam Johnson, founder and Chief Executive Officer of i2Go.com, Inc.,
said: ``i2Go.com is thrilled to be the first to deliver on this capability to offer online
upgrades to our customers. This is clearly the trend of the future and demonstrates to our
customers how 'future-ready' i2Go really is.'' Providing the latest technology and features developed by i2Go.com,
elements of the first upgrade release (v1.03) include:
-- Elapse time of the track being played
-- Clock Display
-- Fast Forward/Rewind on 320 kbps files with elapsed time display and
automatic 1/2 volume setting for audio preview
-- Ability to delete files on the player directly from the mp3agent with a
single step
-- New protection for CFII cards to keep files and cards from being
corrupted
-- Upgraded sensitivity of microphone for memo and reply recording
Applications are being developed by i2Go.com for future online upgrades. Additionally, support for other audio formats including SDMI and watermarking standards currently being defined, will be made available for upgrade. i2Go.com is the first to develop a portable interactive digital audio player specifically intended for use in the car. Other MP3 player manufacturers, such as Audiovox Corp., S3's Diamond Multimedia, and Creative Technology Inc., also offer portable players, but not with the automobile connectivity and interactive capabilities of the eGo. i2Go.com will be exhibiting at the upcoming 2000 International CES Exposition, January 6-9, 2000 in Las Vegas. Visit i2Go.com in Booth 273, South Hall, at the Las Vegas Convention Center for your chance to win an eGo interactive audio digital player. Virtual demonstrations of the eGo will take place throughout the show in the i2Go.com booth.
