Peavey Electronics Boosts Sound Performance of New DJ Mixing Boards with SRS Labs' 3D Sound Technology

Diversification Efforts Involving New Market Penetration, Valence Technologies and SRSWOWCast.com Stay on Schedule

SANTA ANA, Calif., Feb. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- SRS Labs, Inc.'s (Nasdaq: SRSL) patented 3D Sound technology has won a design implementation in a new product set -- professional DJ Sound Mixers. The 3D Mix and 3D Mix Pro, designed/developed by Peavey Electronics Corporation, represents the first SRS 3D Sound implementation in a DJ Mixer product. Peavey is one of the nation's largest manufacturers of musical instruments and portable sound equipment. SRS Labs is the world's leading provider of complete audio and voice technology solutions.

``As SRS continues its expansion into new licensing markets, diversification efforts in product offering and Internet broadcasting remain on target,'' explained Tom Yuen, Chairman of SRS Labs. ``Our technologies are becoming more entrenched in mainstream consumer products and their appeal is broadening into specialty markets. As a company, we're clearly defining our areas of focus and are pleased with the progress of the Valence IPO (on schedule for 2Q '00) and our Internet broadcasting (as launched in January with SRSWOWCast.com). Similarly, we are very pleased with the expanded use of our SRS 3D Sound and would like to welcome Peavey as an esteemed licensee.''

Peavey's line of DJ Mixers have long been recognized for their engineering excellence and superior performance quality. The implementation of SRS Labs' 3D Sound adds a significant improvement and differentiator over Peavey's current products by delivering fully immersive 3D sound to the entire DJ audience. The 3D Mix is touted as having SRS Spatial Expansion used to increase the stereo ``spread'' and giving a surround sound effect that is extremely dramatic and pleasing. The 3D Mix Pro is a full featured mixer with a new graphic look and SRS 3D Sound with a dedicated collapse button for total control. Both products will be on display this week at the NAMM 2000 International Music Market trade show in Los Angeles.

``We first saw a demo on SRS 3D Sound technology in 1996,'' states Hartley Peavey, CEO and founder of Peavey Electronics. ``We liked what we heard, but waited to incorporate it into our next generation of DJ Mixers. We introduced the 3D Mix Pro at the NAMTV Show in Los Angeles, and we're already looking ahead to the future and the implementation of other SRS technologies in our broad line of professional sound products. We hope to have TruBass enhanced products by the end of the year and look forward to the vast improvements these technologies offer.''

About SRS 3D Sound

Based on the characteristics of the human hearing system, SRS differs from stereo and traditional sound expansion techniques. SRS compensates for the difference between the way the human hearing system works and the manner in which sound is recorded and transmitted by microphones and speakers. It retrieves the partial information from recordings and restores the original three-dimensional sound field. Consequently, the reproduced sound is much closer to a live performance delivering expanded audio material and immersive sound.
