Compaq Provides High-Quality Vortex Audio Solutions via Presario 5600i Line
Design Win Extends Aureal's Lead in Supplying Top-Tier PC Manufacturers, Brings Aureal's Award-Winning A3D and Vortex to Mainstream Market

FREMONT, Calif., Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Aureal Semiconductor Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: AURL - news) today announced that accelerated PCI audio cards based on its patented Vortex® technology will now be included as standard components on the new Presario 5600i series desktops from Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ - news). Compaq is also incorporating Aureal's A3D™ positional audio technology in its new Presario 5200 series desktops and Presario 1900 and 1200 series laptops.

The new Presario 5600i machines announced last week by Compaq will include, as a standard feature, an Aureal-built 8820 PCI audio card with A3D, providing high-quality 360 degree 3D positional audio. Customers will also have the ability to upgrade audio quality and performance with the optional Diamond Monster Sound MX300 card, powered by the Vortex 2 chip and A3D 2.0 -- featuring both 3D positional audio and Aureal Wavetracing™ technology.

``Working with Compaq is helping us reach our goal of extending affordable, high-quality audio solutions to the mainstream market,'' said Kip Kokinakis, Aureal's President and CEO. ``More and more, consumers are being drawn to new applications for high-end PC audio -- from gaming to DVD and music via the Internet. We're enabling these new markets through partners like Compaq and other top PC makers.''
