| With its AudioSystem EWS88
MT Germany's leading sound card manufacturer has made high-quality hard disk
multi-tracking affordable for everyone. With 8 inputs and outputs for analog audio
equipment, continuous audio data processing with 24bit at up to 96kHz frequency from the
converters to the driver, MIDI I/O as well as digital interfaces in S/PDIF format, the PCI
card once again sets the price/performance standard in the music market. The EWS88 MT now
also has an ASIO 2.0 driver which can take up to four cards in one PC (ASIO with up to 40
inputs and 40 outputs at up to 24bit/96kHz, full-duplex). In addition, AC3 audio streams -
for example for DVD - can now be sent through the digital output. And: the EWS88 MT now
supports the NEMESYS Gigasampler interface GSIF. EWS88 MT owners can download the new
software features on www.terratec.net . The internal components are extra-ordinary: converters, analog ports and MIDI interfaces are easily accessible in their external 5¼" module. The casing is completely closed, EMC protected and can be placed - just like with TerraTec's EWS64 XL and microWAVE PC - in the front of your PC. An additional analog output (SystemSound-Out) is located on the back of the PCI board which can be used for system sounds and software synthesizer (DirectSound support). In addition, the main analog inputs and outputs can be operated at +4dBu or -10dBv and several EWS88 MTs can be cascaded within a system. - By the way cascading: all new EWS systems with EWS-Connect - at this time they include EWS88 MT and EWS88 D (with more to come) - can be synchronized to each other and need only one driver and one central control panel. The software included with the EWS88 MT is extremely comprehensive: the flexible audio routing can easily be controlled by the attractive and well-designed control panel. Drivers for Windows 95/98 including support for DirectSound (System-Sound Out only) and MME come with the package as well as support for Windows NT. And here, too, the best qualities are in the details: all drivers are capable of forwarding 24bit audio data to the recording software as 32bit data. This feature noticeably unburdens the CPU, because unlike with the common packed-byte process, the 24bit data does not have to be stacked several times before being transmitted through the 32bit wide bus. Last but not least: the system has its own wave devices per stereo pair, with which the AudioSystem EWS88 MT is able to work together with all known Windows audio/recording programs right from the start. |
