TerraTec's MP3 CD player m3po with new features

Following the successful launch of the stationary MP3 CD player m3po from TerraTec, which has the option of installing a hard disk, those boffins at Nettetal have been continuing to work on the features of this world first. Because even a very good product can be improved. And here's the beautiful thing about this optimisation: it's not just the future buyers of an m3po who will be able to enjoy these options - the "old" owners can as well. That's because the useful added functions were implemented in the firmware. You can download this current m3po operating system easily and free of charge from TerraTec's homepage www.terratec.net or from www.m3po.net.

Here's a small selection of the new features: The "Change While Play" technology now allows the user to change a CD without interrupting the playback of MP3 files or playlists (M3U) from the hard disk. Operation has been further simplified with the Autostart function and an intuitive service after switching on has been added. A "Sleeptimer" (familiar from the radio alarm clock) opens up the possibility of restricting the m3po to a playing time of ten to 120 minutes. And there's something of particular interest to DJs: the "Party Lock" protects against unwanted access to the player. But there's just one vital thing: don't forget your password!

Also highly recommended for DJs: the complete speed changing without affecting the pitch has been revised and further refined. Or there's what we call DJ Mode: you can preselect up to ten titles or songs and play them back in sequence. Playlists can now be conveniently edited on the m3po. And "jack-in-the-boxes" will be delighted with the shuffling. Just start on the playlist, repeat a song, go back to the CD, etc. etc. etc. - it's no problem with the m3po. What's more, the m3po now also supports files with variable bit rates (VBR) and MPEG2 files.

The key features of the m3po at a glance:

- Playback of MP3 files directly from the CD
- Playback of the usual Audio CDs
- Support of playlists in the widely used M3U format (Winamp)
- Additional installation space for commercial 3.5 inch AT bus hard disk
- Supports ISO9660/Joliet and FAT16/32 file systems on CD and hard disk
- Interpreter, album and title (ID TAGS) are read from MP3 data and shown directly on the display
- Supports all MPEG audio bit rates, scanning rates and variable bit rate streams (8-48 kHz, 8-320 kbit/s)
- Clear, practical infrared remote control
- Variable playback speed without any impact on the pitch
- Rapid access to the title via the Enter wheel
- Title list stored in the internal RAM
- Later updating of the operating system by CD ROM possible
- 32-bit RISC processor for the control
- High-quality hardware MPEG decoder
- CwhiP (Change While Play) > Change the CD during playback from the hard disk
- Autostart > Various playback possibilities after switching on
- Sleeptimer > Limits the playback time between 10 and 120 minutes
- Party Lock > Protects the m3po against unwanted access
- Playlists > Convenient playlist function: create, edit, save and even play
- DJ Mode > Preselect up to 10 titles to be played back in sequence.
- VBRs > Full support of MP3 files with variable bit rates
