Supporting Creative Labs' Environmental Audio is Now Available for Download |
| Cambridge, MA, February 12, 1999 -
Following industry-wide critical acclaim for its highly-innovative use of audio effects in
its first-person 3D action/adventure game Thief: The Dark Project, Looking Glass Studios
today announced that an upgrade which adds support for Creative Labs' Environmental
Audio(tm) is now available. This enhancement is available for download from the Web
sites of Looking Glass Studios (www.lglass.com/thief)
and Eidos Interactive (www.eidosinteractive.com/thief). Creative Labs' Environmental Audio Extensions (EAX) recreates real-world multi-dimensional audio in personal computers equipped with the Sound Blaster(r) Live! line of sound cards. For Thief: The Dark Project, it allows the Thief sound engine to create audio effects that give the player a greater sense of space and realism. Throughout every mission, sound reverberation becomes a true function of room size and acoustic properties, and Creatives multi-speaker Environmental Audio system allows sound cues to come from left, right, in front, and behind. Receiving rave reviews from both the gaming and mass-market press, Thief: The Dark Project is a first-person 3D action/adventure game where players assume the role of a master thief relying on stealth and cunning.
